I have specialized training in Art Therapy, Jungian-oriented psychotherapy, Play Therapy and Sandplay, and Telemental Health Therapy.
At times in our lives we may find that the pain of events is seemingly more than one can handle, and life questions are too great. During these passages, healing and stress reduction can be aided through a therapeutic alliance with a mental health counselor. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I listen to, and witness your story. I provide a safe and confidential environment to explore those issues which most challenge you. It is an honor for me to provide counseling services for those seeking healing and an increase in the quality of their lives. Currently, I work with adults via teletherapy only.

Often in life we can get stuck and feel we have come to the end of ourselves and our capabilities. My goal is to be with you in this feeling and explore ways of getting you "unstuck."

My therapy practice includes play therapy and art therapy, sand-play, active listening, family systems work, and parenting education. I am curious and compassionate in my relationship to clients with varying needs and backgrounds.

I work with children and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss, family changes, challenging peer relationships and the behaviors that can result from these issues. I have training and experience using Play Therapy and Sandplay, which employ children's natural way of communicating and learning, as well as other therapeutic modalities as appropriate to each individual. My approach is client centered and often non-directive, believing that when children experience emotional safety in a non-judgmental relationship, their inner wisdom naturally emerges to guide their learning, healing and growth.

I work with a diversity of adults experiencing relationship issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and life transitions. Are you feeling stuck in in a pattern but unsure how to break out of it? Are you struggling to find a sense of balance or hope, navigating life transition, or feeling afraid to engage in activities you once enjoyed? You may be experiencing self-judgment, low self-worth, shame, or just seeking change. These are common issues that bring people to therapy. These challenges can be an opportunity for deeper growth and acceptance. When you feel seen and heard in therapy, deep healing is possible.

I specialize in using Attachment Focused EMDR and Jungian psychology such as dream analysis, active imagination, and sandplay to mend early attachment wounds and complex trauma.
I am passionate about working with Asian Americans and the Chinese population. I have a lot of experience in helping international students and employees navigate life transitions and challenges. My clinical areas of specialty include personal growth and development, anxiety and depression, interpersonal problems, grief and loss issues, trauma, and stress-related problems. I believe the difficulties serve a purpose: to provide us the chance to reveal authenticity and completeness in our life. Life seems to be falling apart when you focus on the broken pieces. I will help you see how they will come together to form the whole.

I work with youth, adults, and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, adjustment challenges, and intense relationship dynamics. Changes in environment, health, or life experiences can bring powerful and unexpected shifts, or leaving individuals feeling overwhelmed. People seek therapy for various reasons, including managing emotional pain, loneliness, past traumas, or simply a desire for personal growth. In my experience, therapy can significantly reduce these difficulties, making life feel richer and more manageable.

I believe change takes place in the context of a relationship. My focus is on helping my clients achieve their therapy goals. I collaborate with my clients to support them in finding solutions to the challenges they bring to our sessions. I use an integrated approach tailored to your goals and values. I tend to be solution and goal focused, but to get there most individuals need to process experiences and emotions to better understand their own thoughts and feelings. With productive self-awareness your actions will naturally become more effective and thoughtful.

In an out of control world, we all retain the human freedom of turning our attention inwards to find meaning and clarity. We all have times when life feels out of balance and the path forward seems uncertain. Our suffering does not have to be meaningless, it can be our most profound tool for personal transformation.

I work with children, adolescents, parents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting difficulty, and stress from life changes such as a break-up, divorce, relationship hardship, career/education dissatisfaction, or changes within the family unit. My philosophy is that our health and happiness is closely linked to our relationships with others. We rarely operate in our day-to-day lives in isolation, and the quality of our relationship with family, friends, co-workers, bosses, teachers, school peers, etc. will influence how we feel.

Current openings for individual counseling and Twice Exceptional Parenting clients. Things beyond our control in life sometimes shake loose issues that we thought we were past. Coping that has worked before, no longer seems to work or is even now getting in our way in our lives. There are sometimes moments where we can't see beyond the here and now which makes us believe that things will always be the way they currently are. These are pivotal life moments that allow us the opportunity to seek a different path. This may be the time to begin to seek guidance or dig deeper into our issues in order to grow.

If you're reading this, you or someone you love are in some level of distress. I'm glad you're here. Keep reading. People generally do the best they can with what they know. Sometimes in life, we need additional support in order to work on areas that are beyond us- either because we've experienced trauma, tried everything we know, or we're too entangled. Sadly, many people wait so long to seek help that things are extremely overwhelming by the time they call. The good news is, you're here now and things can get better. I offer a free initial consultation, so please feel free to call and speak with me.

Sandplay Therapists

What problems are best treated with sandplay therapy?

Research has examined this therapy’s utility in young people and found positive results. It has been shown to be useful for those who suffer from autism, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, and or aggressive behavior. Children who have suffered abuse, neglect, or trauma have also seen improvement through this therapy. Abused children are often fearful and anxious about their safety, making verbal communication more difficult.

Is sandplay therapy suitable for children and teenagers?

Children and adolescents are good candidates for sandplay therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts, let alone the emotions they are experiencing. Through this play therapy, they will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Is sandplay suitable for adults?

This type of therapy can be useful for adults who have difficulties expressing themselves. People who have suffered neurological changes after a brain injury or because of a traumatic event might be good candidates for this therapy. In fact, anything that has had an effect on the brain, such as substance abuse, can make non-verbal sandplay a valuable option.

Does sandplay therapy work?

There have been studies on the effectiveness of sandplay therapy, and it appears to improve difficult behaviors in children. It may also enhance self-esteem and lessen feelings of physical anxiety as well as hypersensitivity. This type of therapy is based on non-verbal communication and may feel less threatening to the individual.
