Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. If you're seeking therapy, you're likely looking for some sort of change, which requires hope. I believe hope is gritty and requires courage. I believe the magic is found right in that liminal space where we start to open the door to new possibilities. I currently serve adult women-identifying clients in my private practice who desire to work through grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational conflict. Informed by relational psychodynamic theory and existential psychotherapy, my therapeutic orientation is relationship centered.

I work from an existential-humanistic framework, which means that our process will focus on your relationship with yourself and others, the deepening of your awareness, and the ability to be present in your life.
In my practice, I support teens, adults, and couples residing in Washington or California. I work with a number of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, intimacy and relationships, identity, life-transitions, conflict, divorce and separation, and anything in-between. I also have experience with adoption and blended families. When working with minor clients, I provide guidance to parents through collaborative consultation throughout our therapeutic relationship. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in both Washington and California.

I value being real and supportive at the same time. I love what I do as a therapist and believe in being safe, trusting and accepting, no matter what may come! My office is (ever so slightly) cluttered and often gets the term "homey & comfortable" Dogs are welcome as well, due to their positive therapeutic benefit for their people (owners, minders & guardians). I value humor (when appropriate...granted, that's open to interpretation, right??!!) and use it as the situation arises, as in a give-and-take dynamic relationship. Life-long gamer & D&D geek, btw. :)

My way of working with my clients is very relationship based.
I'm interested in helping you figure out what you want, and helping you get there. Being a teen and young adult is so stressful and weird, with or without other factors like mental health issues. I can help with all the identity exploration that you might need like sexuality, gender, career goals, education plans, self-esteem, etc., as well as issues like depression, anxiety, trauma, suicide, and self harm. If your parent/guardian is "making" you come, we can work with that too. Just remember, you're the one who consents for therapy, so you choose what we work on.

**Waitlist** Living authentically can be scary, rather intimidating. With support of a therapist, individuals can learn to accept, even embrace, the vulnerability that the process towards authenticity requires. Within a supportive therapeutic relationship, clients can explore personal beliefs and develop their identity. Many individuals struggle with processing life events but it doesn't have to be done alone or involve constant suffering. Life events can be difficult, even "positive" ones such as the birth of a child; postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety are real and it doesn't have to ruin your experience as a parent!

Pornography & sex addiction are real and destroy lives! If you've been affected by porn & sex addiction you've most likely been risking your job, your family, maybe even going to jail. You've likely tried to stop but can't. It's too much! The shame and guilt are overwhelming. And, if you're reading this, it's likely you've been caught by by a significant other and are facing the end of your relationship unless you get help!

If we are able to feel deeply understood and cared for in a consistent and supportive therapeutic relationship, positive change and growth may occur in a subtle and evolving process as a result of these conditions. In my role as a therapist, my work is to provide these conditions to the best of my ability. Therapy can provide a space in which a trusted other helps you to understand yourself more fully, as well as to consider the stories that you tell about yourself and your life. Such understanding allows us to contemplate how we may begin to believe in more helpful and truthful stories.

We all have an innate longing for intimate human relationship but for many of us, we can't seem to shake this dull aching loneliness that resides in the pit of our souls. However, the inherent human need for meaningful relationships has remained elusive. Many times, it feels easier to isolate than to face the intolerable reality. We have become experts at stifling our needs and desires. But when we enter into the presence of another, when we begin to tell our stories of heartache and pain, healing begins. We need a witness to our grief, someone to join alongside us as we lament. Above all, we need a place to experience belonging.

Hello! Welcome to therapy. I’m Madeleine. If you are seeking therapy, you may be struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, family/relationship issues, or perhaps you just need someone to talk to without fear of being judged. I use a collaborative approach and believe that you are the expert in your own life. We will work together to identify any patterns of behavior that you feel are interfering with your life, discuss the ways your family, environment, and society may be reinforcing these, and develop the skills to alter or cope with these patterns more effectively.

Some of life’s greatest challenges, such as divorce, relationship issues, career choices, work related stress, depression, and anxiety can be difficult to navigate alone. Sometimes these issues may be difficult for our family members and friends to attend to. I am committed to helping clients find new possibilities or recognize the strengths that they may have been overlooking. I am an Army Veteran who has extensive experience working with veterans and their families as a family and victim advocate. These experiences have given me a unique perspective of trauma and the challenges it may present in daily life.
