Alternative Behavioral Therapy specializes in the integration of talk therapy and Neurofeedback which is commonly used for the treatment and normalization of ADHD. We can incorporate this practice into PTSD, depression, sleep disorders, learning disabilities, anxiety, and much more. For those adept in this field, we practice Infra-low, SMR training, theta/beta ratio, and alpha-theta deep state processing as well as ISF (Infra-slow frequency training). For disorders resulting from trauma, EMDR may be incorporated as deemed appropriate. Other modality options may include Play Therapy or life coaching as well.

My passion for working with first responders started during the summer of 2020 during the riots in downtown Portland as I watched day after day of officers on the front lines and kept thinking to myself, "who's keeping an eye out for them?" I have enjoyed learning more about first responder culture and ways I can combine that with my counseling background to help provide first responders with the ability to navigate life outside of the uniform as well as they do while wearing one. This also involves helping them manage the day to day stressors of what they are seeing and doing in response to increasing call volumes.

****Not accepting new patients at this time. Will post when availability opens up**** I believe one of the greatest attributes of the therapeutic relationship is the ability to be open and honest with your thoughts, feelings, and relationship issues. Therapy is a place where you don't have to worry about being judged or having your statements negatively impact your world. A place where you can feel heard and understood, and receive objective feedback from someone whose sole purpose is to help you to make your life better.

I believe that there is tremendous opportunity and potential for physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational healing and growth that can be achieved through counseling. Many struggle with depression, anxiety, self-doubt, trauma, self-image distortion, spiritual issues, communication difficulties, and lack of tools necessary to live in this ever-changing world. My role as a counselor is to come alongside and assist individuals, families, and groups that are motivated, to change at least one aspect of their thoughts, feelings, or behaviors.

Hey there! If you feel chronically "different" from your peers, even as an adult, let's talk. Do you struggle with functional skills (looking at you, laundry mountain)? Do you struggle to hold a job? Does socializing exhaust or confuse you? If you have an elaborate system in place to keep your life "together", or if you feel the absence of systems like that, we may be a good fit. When we already struggle with "adulting" tasks, and add additional non-dominant identities into the mix- queer, trans, BIPOC, disabled/chronically ill- we can burn out on our own lives without well-rounded self-awareness and support.
