YES, Life Can Be Different! I know that you want to live a better life! The problem is that what you need can look very different from what others need. Perhaps, you are experiencing pain from mental illness or broken relationships, and you are looking for a healing guide. You may be feeling unsatisfied and unfulfilled with your life, and instead, you desperately crave an inspiring and fulfilling life. Maybe, your business growth has plateaued, or your team has stagnated, and you are searching for help to change. Whatever your path, I believe that life can be different!

I believe that humans are constantly evolving, seeking to reduce suffering, and can enhance self-awareness by delving into the depths of their unconscious mind. There are things in life that challenge us, our values, and our beliefs. As a result, our natural response might show up as stress, anxiety, anger, or grief and lead us to start asking ourselves some tough questions about the meaning of life. It is through counseling that we can start to explore these thoughts and become more self-determined and confident in our choices.

Sometimes it can feel alarming to realize our anxiety, depression or trauma is not just in our heads, but in our bodies as well. We might try to change the way we are thinking, but we still don't feel at home in our own skin. We can start to feel afraid that nothing will ever change. As a somatic (body-centered) psychotherapist trained in trauma across the lifespan, it is my honor to support clients in discovering that much more is possible than at first imagined. I enjoy helping clients identify what is right and natural about themselves, and to heal through their own fully-trustworthy inner wisdom.

I honor the incredible innate capacity for healing within each human being. In therapy, we'll explore which parts of yourself are needing attention or internally blocked and tend to them with compassionate curiosity to bring you into a fuller more easeful expression of yourself.

Suffering from mental and emotional problems can cause you to feel hopeless and defeated. You may believe recovery is not possible and that you're destined to live a life of misery. I am here to tell you that you can heal and be happy instead of sad and anxious. I help individuals who suffer from trauma, anxiety disorders and OCD. I also work well with individuals who struggle to regulate their emotions or participate in self-destructive behaviors. In therapy we work together on understanding how your thoughts, belief systems, and feelings play a role in your life.

At the core of my therapeutic approach is my belief that we heal and transform through authentic and empathic connection. I view therapy as a collaborative process where we co-create a space to engage what has been wounded and find medicine to heal and grow. Seeking healing and restoration is a brave and courageous journey that goes against all the systems of oppression that seek to wound and separate us. I considered it a profound honor to walk with someone in this journey through challenges, suffering, wonder, curiosity and pain, to find a healing, growth, embodiment and joy that follows us beyond the therapy room.

Therapy is a place to take a deep breath and explore what makes you you. It’s a place to get more deeply connected with yourself through processing past and present feelings and experiences. I work best with motivated individuals who are ready to find more authentic ways of showing up in this world. Through consistent therapy, it is my belief that you and I can identify unwanted behaviors and patterns in your life, and learn how to address them with kindness and compassion. By embracing your personal story without judgement or contempt, therapy will invite you toward deeper healing and wholeness.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
