Currently not taking new clietns. I have a passion for working with individuals, kids, couples and families who are currently or have experienced anxiety, depression, grief, difficult life transitions, parenting struggles and medical trauma related to cancer, autoimmune diseases and other rare blood disorders. I believe that hardships in life are unique to everyone and for some of us it is hard to get through alone. My goal is to provide you and those close to you a safe space where challenging thoughts and feelings can be openly shared and we can work collaboratively to find ways to help you cope.

I AM accepting new telehealth clients. Email or text is the best way to reach me. A global pandemic has changed the way we operate overnight. Most people are finding adjusting to feelings of powerlessness, and ambivalence has taken a toll on their overall well-being, and family. Taking the first steps towards change for ourselves, and our family takes a lot of courage. I am glad you are reading this, and hope you hold how important taking care of your brain, body, and social emotional needs is. Therapy can provide a space that allows you to show up as you are and grow.

I use directive and non-directive play therapy with children and Alderian and filial therapy to help with parenting.
I focus on helping my clients understand and heal attachment issues, processing of trauma, resolving parenting difficulties, and work/life conflicts. My goal is to give my clients a place to feel safe to discuss the stresses and troubles they may be experiencing. Although I counsel people of all ages, I particularly enjoy seeing children under the age of 18. I also like to provide support for parents and help the family achieve regulation by improving understanding and communication between family members.

Parenting is a special interest of mine including parenting oneself as an adult.
"Compassionate towards yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world." These words of wisdom hold truth for me. I believe all of life is about relationships--to ideas and circumstances, as well as people--and I think that one of the most important relationships is the one we have with our self. Change is possible when we see things as they are. I work in collaboration with people as they work toward their goals. I see individuals, couples and families (especially teens and parents) who recognize the need for change in their lives.

I offer specialized care for the tender perinatal stages of pregnancy, birth, postpartum and early parenting.
The transition to parenthood is really hard, isn’t it? Maybe the journey to becoming a parent has been long and challenging. Maybe your vision for what having a newborn would be like has been abruptly altered by the reality of it all. Maybe your dreams feel like they’re falling apart as you grieve a pregnancy loss or grieve who you used to be in the “before times”. This season of life is such a uniquely transformative period that it can throw even the most well-prepared people into a state of emotional and mental chaos they never saw coming.

I specialize in couples, parenting, mid-life, blended families, & aging parents; all experiences I know well.
I am a systemic relational therapist. What does that mean? I believe everything is connected: people make up systems, and systems have patterns. I help my clients –individuals, couples, and families of all types— shift the patterns that no longer work for them. We identify the path they want to take forward, and together, we work toward that future.

Current openings for individual counseling and Twice Exceptional Parenting clients. Things beyond our control in life sometimes shake loose issues that we thought we were past. Coping that has worked before, no longer seems to work or is even now getting in our way in our lives. There are sometimes moments where we can't see beyond the here and now which makes us believe that things will always be the way they currently are. These are pivotal life moments that allow us the opportunity to seek a different path. This may be the time to begin to seek guidance or dig deeper into our issues in order to grow.

Additionally, I provide parenting skills building to assist parents of children with difficult behaviors, or At-Risk teens.
There are a variety of therapeutic techniques I use to bring relief to current life issues, help resolve early life patterns and help clients create a new way of being in life and feeling they are now in control of themselves and their choices. There is a release in these techniques that normal "talk" therapy is not able to provide. This journey is about self discovery and self mastery. Those that wish to address a specific issue or symptom in their life can do so and those who want to embark on the larger path of personal transformation are also served by this work.

I draw on my formal education and decades of experience working with thousands of families while personally doing the work of nurturing a peaceful home within myself, my relationships, and my community as a gentle parenting and natural homeschooling mother of 3 teens (with a mixed race, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse family).
Do you struggle to show up as the parent you want to be? If you begin your day with a whole-hearted intention for peace that seems to dissolve with each day’s anxieties and triggers, I can help. I have immediate openings for parents (and teens) who are tired of the struggle and ready for peace, freedom, connection, and joy within themselves, their relationships, and their lives.

As an experienced trauma and EMDR therapist, parent coach, mom and a survivor I know that everyone is doing the best they can, but past experiences can get in the way.
Trauma can leave us feeling shattered, lost and disconnected. Adding parenting to the mix can make it that much harder. You might look successful on the surface, but inside you're triggered, anxious, burned out, overwhelmed, and maybe even feeling guilty that you can’t always be the present parent or partner you want to be. You may not even be able to remember a time things didn’t feel this hard. But one thing's for sure, you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to make sense of your experiences. You’re ready to re-gain control. Most of all, you’re ready to feel capable and empowered to be your best parenting self.

I am also certified to teach Triple P parenting classes (regular session fees + plus cost of book).
'Hope' (noun): To desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment; to expect with confidence. What do you hope for? I think deep down we all hope for similar things; peace, joy, love, excitement, and fulfilling relationships. When we experience depression, anxiety, trauma, stressful life circumstances, parenting challenges or relationship difficulties we can end up feeling hopeless and alone. My goal as a therapist is to help you rediscover your hopes and dreams and make a plan to achieve them! I will do this by providing a safe space to process what has gotten in your way and helping you identify what changes can be made.

I provided parent education, mentorship for school faculty, advocated for foster youth in the courts, and designed spaces and events that created opportunities for expression and connection amongst communities I served.
I admire the courage it takes to seek help and make change, and believe everyone has the capacity for healing. I bring compassion and curiosity to my person centered work with clients. My approach is collaborative, feedback driven, strengths based, and often infused with play, art, and nature therapy techniques. While the work we do will be as unique as each client, I am most inspired by internal family systems, emotionally focused therapy, solution focused brief therapy, and AEDP.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
