As an immigrant, I understand that life is a journey and as part of that we encounter countless challenges. Going through difficult times and learning to cope with them are opportunities to become wiser and more mindful. However, life challenges can be daunting and hard to overcome. I believe that therapy can help you make sense of your circumstances and cultivate insights and awareness so that you can change and grow. I work with adults 18 and older with an emphasis on mindfulness, attachment-based and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches.

Somatic, mindfulness-based work is equally suitable for clients working with resolving underlying emotional patterns and trauma as for those simply wanting to expand their capacity for intimacy in their relationships.
In my practice, I blend NARM with other mindfulness-based methods to help clients gently access and heal unresolved issues in order to decrease unnecessary suffering in their lives. My practice is ideal for clients who are curious about expanding their capacity for intimacy in their relationships and creating greater joy and satisfaction in their lives. I enjoy working with clients who are curious about and engaged in their own healing process, and who are committed to compassion and nonviolence in their relationships with others and with themselves. I welcome adults, adolescents, couples, and clients from the LGBTQI+ community.

I can help clients when they are at a difficult moment dealing with complex life transitions and experiencing grief, anxiety, stress, and anger. I prefer to help clients with existential methods that invoke depth orientated psychological approaches from Jung, Gestalt, and stoicism. Clients that are able to receive homework assignments for mindfulness and reflect on the challenges they are having will be the best equipped to look at introspection and navigate their mood disturbances with assistance in the therapeutic relationship.

Relying heavily on somatic (body based) and mindfulness (present moment) tools, you will have the opportunity listen to, understand, and even reshape your nervous system and beliefs.
As a therapist, I believe we all deserve the space to heal, grow, and awaken to our authentic selves. It can be challenging in our culture and society to listen to our own inner-knowings. Even more challenging if we struggle with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, and issues with self-esteem. You are not broken; you are learning and healing in a broken world. That's why I believe in helping clients access their inherent strength and wisdom. Through somatic and experiential therapies that draw on nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and self-compassion, I help my folks meet reality with more resilience and self-trust.

I use an eclectic approach incorporating existential and cognitive-behavioral theories as well as mindfulness based techniques into my practice.
Has becoming a parent been more challenging than you expected? Are you struggling to feel connected to your partner or to your baby? Are you feeling unsupported, exhausted, fearful, or sad when you thought you would be feeling elated? Are you questioning whether your experience is normal and wondering if things could be better? Now more than ever, moms and parents are feeling the pressure to be "perfect" without the support they really need to thrive. You can and should be doing more than just surviving parenthood.

Whether on or off the mat, I utilize my mindfulness practice to help me build concentration, empathy, and grit.
I believe that we all thrive as our best selves when we have the tools we need for success. While a diagnosis (when necessary) and a treatment plan help guide the care you receive from me, I also integrate the Wellness Model in your counseling sessions. I utilize individualized therapy to ensure that your goals and objectives are met in a holistic way because "you are the boss of you!" I am Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington state and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in the USA. I received my Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling through CACREP-accredited Adams State University in Colorado.

In my work I also use Experiential Therapy Techniques, DBT, Mindfulness and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy skills.
We all get stuck & that's simply part of being imperfectly human. There are times in life when we need someone to walk beside us as we navigate new paths into healthier relationships. Relationships with ourselves and others. Intentionally cultivating new patterns of interaction and deconstruction patterns that no longer serve us. I act as a choreographer of conversations, aimed to explore emotional connections & attachment injuries and impasses. As humans, we have a biological need to feel seen to be safe, secure & connected in our relationships. I work collaboratively with clients creating safety, change & a new path forward.

I believe that true healing occurs when we learn to accept our thoughts and feelings without judgment, and I work closely with my clients to develop mindfulness skills that promote emotional well-being and resilience.
My passion and strengths in counseling include people who are dealing with grief, self esteem, 1st/2nd generation asian identity, LGBT, public service oriented professionals, autistic individuals, and those living with varying identities of disabilities. Having worked in inpatient, community crisis MH, and for the state, I can resonate with other service providers. Its an honor for me to work with people who want to see a different outlook on life and engage in meaningful conversations that will help individuals work towards becoming their authentic selves and living outside of the mold pressured and formed by society.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
