I love working with curious, motivated, and those willing to push themselves outside their comfort zone. I prefer to go deep and enjoy working with those eager to do the same. Together we will walk the line between uncomfortable and comfortable to find innovative ways of seeing ourselves. Doing so will ultimately increase your ability to manage stressors proactively and open space to allow the success and results you seek.

You are on a journey of becoming!… Becoming your most authentic, happiest, next-level self. And it’s not easy. In fact, it can be confusing, frustrating, painful… even downright terrifying. Still, here you are- called forward onto this courageous path, perhaps knowing WHERE you want to go, but not always knowing how to get there or what will happen along the way. Living authentically, pursuing your dreams, changing your life... is no small matter. And while no one but you can take this journey, you don’t have to go it alone. It would be my honor and privilege to walk alongside you.

You know there is more of who you truly are, under the surface, waiting to be unlocked. You sense that you have old beliefs or conditioning or fears, picked up from other people or culture, that hold you back from feeling truly open and free and comfortable with yourself. Yet, maybe you can't quite figure out how to break free from these feelings...from these limitations that you didn't ask for. There is nothing wrong with you. Things have just happened to you in life. If you're reading this, then perhaps you're at a place where you're ready to step more fully into your self...a place where there is more compassion and freedom.

My number one goal as a therapist is to establish a trusting and respectful relationship with my client(s). Your trust in me is my genuine priority. I work with adolescents (14+), individuals, families and couples. I am a trans and LGBTQIA+ affirming Therapist. I believe that the mind and physical body are intrinsically connected, and that mental health is the loving balance between the two. Finding that balance looks different for every individual and relationship. When you come into this therapeutic space it is my intention to meet you where you're at, not where you think you should be.

I thrive when working with clients who are exploring gender identity, neurodivergence, and/or relationship issues. My aim is to create an open, non-judgmental and collaborative space where we can process what's going on in your life. You may be dealing with past trauma, expectations of society, your family, culture, or a religious upbringing. I believe it is imperative to have a space where you can be heard and validated as your authentic self. I utilize a social justice framework that reflects on how systems of oppression impact us. How can we cope while these systems are activating our nervous systems and dimming our spirit?

As we venture through life, sometimes we find that the expectations we set for ourselves, our partners, and the future are constantly changing. My hope is to ease you through life’s transitions while enriching the relationships you have. I believe therapy should be a safe, non-judgmental, and nurturing place to put down the weights and ease into meaningful conversations. I enjoy working together with clients to identify their strengths, explore ways to reconnect with themselves and others to move forward in ways that feel genuine.

I am accepting new client(s)! I provide individual and/or group therapy for people from all walks of life. I have worked with people who have symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD to name a few. I like to meet people where they are in the here and now and help them get to where they want to be. Therapy is a collaboration between the client and therapist working together in order to see change.

I have experience working with couples, families and individuals of all ages from a variety of cultures/ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, and religious beliefs, as well as LGBTQIA+. My approach is integrated, operating from a systems theory background, with a lens that is relational and informed by awareness of how societal factors impact experience. Working as a certified substance use disorder counselor, I address not only the individual user, but the impact of use on loved ones. I see change happening through shifts from a person seeing themselves as the problem to seeing themselves as a person up against a problem.

Pull up a bean bag chair, grab your favorite fidget, and let's talk. Maybe you describe your life as "a lot," and struggle to find the spoons to get all your stuff done as well as make meaningful change. Maybe anxiety takes up so much space in your day that it leaves little room for the things you want. Maybe your story includes trauma, and that burden is getting so heavy, it hurts. You want to pursue fulfillment, satisfaction, meaning, and peace in your world. If any of these or other painful places in your heart are true, I would love to get a chance to walk alongside you and find what you're looking for together.

Transgender Therapists

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?

A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?

Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?

An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?

Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
