I am now seeing clients in person in the Liberty Lake office. I am looking forward to helping you reach your personal goals and overcome life's challenges. While counseling is not a cure for all of life's problems, the tools and insight gained through this process can help you carry your load in a productive way. I have worked with adults, adolescents and children in both the hospital and school settings. Some areas of my expertise are relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I am an EMDR and trauma informed therapist and work with clients to shift the narratives that can hold them back from their potential.

I enjoy working with couples and adults, with special interest in trauma, grief, and folx in the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
The seasons of life can feel impossible to navigate alone. Sometimes it’s a lost feeling of disconnection from ourselves. Other times maybe it’s the grief of losing someone we love. Or perhaps it’s a relationship that fuels anxiety or distress. Whatever the reason, counseling is a space for us to explore and discover the tools you need to connect, heal, and grow in new ways. My framework in our work together is grounded in attachment science and the belief that connection to self and other is a basic tenant of human wellness. While leaning in can be terrifying, I'll be there every step of the way.

I have training and experience providing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma informed therapy, neurodiversity affirming therapy and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming therapy, and racial and social justice informed therapy.
I enjoy working with clients who are looking to belong as themselves and experience their lives more fully in the present, coming in with diverse identities and neurotypes (LGBTQIA2S+, Autism and ADHD). In sessions we will work together to build a safe relational context for growing and exploring your relationship with your whole self. We might use expressive arts therapy like visual and tactile arts, somatic based approaches like EMDR, yoga, meditation, breathwork, movement and dance, or use more cognitive strategies for problem solving and developing new ways of thinking and engaging your strengths.

Do you ever feel that you’re living in the past? The thoughts, memories, and dreams keep coming back? You always feel like something bad is going to happen? These are some of the affects of trauma. Others can include panic attacks, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. Unfortunately we can't talk (or logic) our way out of our body and brain's response to trauma, and often we leave talk therapy feeling like we're spinning our wheels. There is good news: we can help your brain and body heal from trauma so that the past can STAY in the past. Healing is possible, and I’m excited to work with you.

I have experience with sexual assault and family trauma, and have treated individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, personality and mood disorders, and attachment trauma.
Take a moment before you read this, and let it sink in that just by being here, you have already taken a step towards improving your mental health. Believe that you are worthy and capable of doing that work. Therapy can be a place to increase your own understanding of yourself, identify patterns, and attend to the places that need healing. Sometimes it is difficult to hold ourselves with compassion, tune in to our own needs, and engage meaningfully with the people and world around us. In therapy, we can discover together what a vibrant and healthy life looks like for you, and how you will best be supported on that road.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
