I am intensively trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy).
How we are today is made from our biology and the environment we are brought up in. While many of our problems are not our faults, it is up to each of us to solve them anyway. That's where I would like to help. We can't do what we haven't been taught, and unfortunately, many people have not been taught how to process the impactful moments of their lives in a way that leaves them feeling in control of themselves. Through therapy, each person can feel empowered to make their life what they want it to be; not just what their experiences have currently left them with.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Choice Theory, Person-Centered Theory, and Positive Therapy.
Life can be hard but what’s even harder is trying to figure it out on your own. Trauma, depression, anxiety among other difficulties can be challenging to understand and cause chaos to our lives and relationships. We want to feel better, but feel as if everything and everyone is letting us down. What we want most is to feel strong and free from the burdens of life. Every person’s struggle is unique, but so are their strengths. My goal as a counselor is to help clients find their unique strengths and freedom from pain. I place great importance on assisting clients in finding the tools to succeed and find peace in their world.

In addition to sexual behavior, I work with First Responders and those struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation.
For clients who are dealing with unhealthy, and sometimes even harmful sexual behaviors, their struggle is often enshrouded in shame and secrecy. These behaviors can affect anyone. Immediate access to pornography and the cloak of anonymity make it easy to become ensnared in unwanted behaviors. For clients who are dealing with concerns about their sexual functioning, it is often due to multiple causes that can be medical, relational, and/or psychological in nature. Often it is difficult to talk about these concerns with others around us given how private and personal these concerns are.

Besides a Strengths Perspective, I also incorporate additional therapeutic modalities: Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Focused.
My practice focuses on the treatment of mental health issues as they relate to teens, adults, older adults, and LGBTQ+. A guiding principle that informs my therapeutic approach is a Strengths Perspective. I believe we are each looking for meaning and purpose in life. Life can bring challenges and circumstances that leave us feeling alone, scared, lost, or hopeless. It is my belief that each individual has the solutions, and my role is to create a safe and affirming environment in which solutions can be identified, growth can begin, and healing can be achieved.

I have had specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-informed CBT, CBT for Psychosis, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
Every individual has their own story to tell, and I want to listen. The role of addiction often plays a significant part in the lives of many people whether in the form of substances food, porn/sex, etc. There is a great deal of cross over between how addictions can be managed and how addictive (yet harmful/unhelpful) thought processes and/or habits can be managed. I want to assist people in identifying their core values, whether their thought patterns are based in reality or perceptions/assumptions, and in obtaining more balance and peace between the roles they fill in their life.

I use cognitive behavioral therapy and other approaches to assist individuals in reaching their goals in a holistic manner.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), if I can change my thinking it can change my feelings which will change my behaviors. I look at the counseling relationship as a collaboration between the individual and counselor with the person being the expert of their own lives. Success is about progress and not perfection and I believe everyone has it in themselves to meet their goals. I work with individuals, families, and couples primarily adults 18 plus.
