I am currently accepting new clients! When we accept ourselves we can more fully connect with others and enjoy being present in our daily lives. Would you like to treat yourself with loving kindness? To respond thoughtfully to others instead of reacting based on past experiences? I enjoy working with adult abuse survivors to develop self-compassion and explore issues related to childhood and relational trauma. If you would like to learn to nurture and care for yourself, to find acceptance and peace I can help!

Your trauma deserves expert care. I combine EMDR and somatic therapy in unique ways to help you heal quickly and fully. My approach uses the innate abilities of the mind plus the body to build coping skills and to heal deep, hidden trauma. Right now, is feeling good about yourself and about your relationships a struggle? Are you spending most days being driven by fear or heavy with despair even though you try to stay positive? Maybe you're trapped in patterns you’re trying to break but they always seem to win. Its probably feeling like an exhausting battle with yourself and you don’t know if things will ever really get better.

I use an integrative approach grounded in attachment-based, relational-psychodynamic, and existential perspectives to explore the past experiences that have shaped how we move through the world.
No two human experiences are the same, and my therapy approach acknowledges this inherent complexity with compassion and curiosity. My ideal clients are creative, high-intensity, critical thinkers that often struggle with perfectionism, trauma, and low self-compassion. They seek a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. They aim to cultivate self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change. My personalized approach ensures each individual's unique needs and goals are met, guiding them toward greater insight, healing, and growth.

Are you hoping to better communicate, manage conflict and revamp your connection with your partner? Or are you in the midst of a major life transition? My clients struggle like you. Despite their brilliance, creativity and drive, the pressures of adapting to life's changes or communicating with their partner seem overwhelming. Before my clients came to see me, they figured that it was “too late” to make a change, and their life “is what it is.” They feared that if they took any drastic steps to improve their lives, it would be considered “selfish.” The fear of change, but also the fear of never changing created tension and anxiety.

You're someone who is looking to find just the right fit in a counselor. Maybe you are experiencing grief, or having difficulty adjusting to life changes. Perhaps you have a general sense of dissatisfaction with life, or have specific things you want to work through. Or, maybe you're feeling trapped by anxiety, or past trauma, and you want to feel a sense of hope; to be seen, heard, and understood. There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to therapy, and the things you may want to work on are important and unique.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
