In particular, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), and Solution-Focused Therapy in my practice.
I am a Master of Social Work (MSW). My focus is identifying how an individual functions in the different systems they must navigate daily. I support individuals in coping with the stress, anxiety, depression, or other feelings and thoughts that may come with this. I work with individuals who wish to explore self- identity and learn self-compassion.

Primarily, I work from a person-centered approach, but I also work from other approaches, such as the existential approach and EMDR.
Hope is what carries us forward in life. We need it to feel like there's a purpose for living. I work with individuals who deal with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem concerns, relational problems, existential issues, cultural issues, and other mental health issues. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be the starting place where hope is restored. Through the therapeutic relationship, I believe that people can start to trust, accept, and love who they are, and as a result, change the outlook and circumstances of their lives. We can do this together; you do not need to be alone while you are struggling.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I provide a safe, judgement-free space for individuals of all ages to grow. I will partner with you to better understand and overcome the obstacles preventing you from having the life you desire. While I now specialize in working with adolescents and adults, my 10 plus years of working with children has given me a unique perspective on the impact early experiences have on our mental and emotional needs. This includes the impact of early childhood trauma and family dynamics. I believe we are deeply impacted by the stories we have about ourselves and our life experiences.

Using an Attachment-Based perspective in combination with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques.
On the outside you appear to have a great life. Meanwhile, internally you feel empty, hopeless, on edge, excessive worrying, and an inability to create balance in all areas of your life. You’re probably exhausted from attempting to tackle these uncomfortable feelings day after day to no avail. It’s almost as if the harder you try to feel at peace or content with yourself you sink deeper into feeling you’re just not good enough or a failure. You’ve possibly wondered if there is something wrong with you.

Life can be difficult...but it can also be wonderful! And sometimes we need help getting to the wonderful. As a counselor, I have the honor of walking with an individual through the difficult in search of better ways to live and function. Difficult things like depression, unhealthy levels of anxiety, grief & loss, times of transition, relationship issues, mental health concerns, and healing from trauma - these are all situations where a counselor can help move the process of healing forward. Please reach out if you would like to work together toward a more healthy, happy, and more meaningful way to live - I'd love to help.

CURRENT limited openings. Anxiety, depression, self doubt, and daily stress can be so pervasive. Does the stress of daily life feel anxiety provoking and overwhelming? Are your job, relationships or friendships feeling stressful? Perhaps feeling stuck or unsettled is becoming a daily reality. It may feel like it's getting harder to thrive and telling people “no” feels hard or unmanageable. You may feel like you are alone, isolated and that you can’t talk with the people in your life about these issues. I want to help you figure some of this out, to learn to love and thrive in life again.

I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals and their loved ones. I recognize that all brains learn, process information, and work differently. Unfortunately, the world at large often is not built to accommodate brains that are atypical. How can we appreciate and understand what works best for you or your loved one? My goal is to help each individual recognize their personal strengths and to identify what success means to them.

Are you tired of people telling you how strong you are when really you are just so exhausted? Are you confused or frustrated by your reactions but no matter what you tell yourself, you can't seem to get your body to listen and cooperate? Or maybe your once-meaningful job feels more and more like an obligation and you are feeling increasingly indifferent towards others and/or just angry at the world? If you are multicultural, you may also feel invisible and feel even more isolated. You are not alone. Many people who have experienced trauma or whose work exposes them to trauma struggle with these challenges.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
