I also have training and experience working with sexual, emotional, and spiritual trauma and abuse.
At times in life we all get stuck and come to places where change is necessary. I aim to create with my clients a space where we listen to what your thoughts, feelings and symptoms are telling you about your story. I believe that we are built for relationship, that both our greatest wounds and deepest healing occur within relationship. Together we will explore the patterns that emerge in therapy, and how old ways of relating are being recreated in present day. I believe therapy in a mutual work and that the answers to your healing are within you and the relationship we build.

I have many years of experience working with adults of all ages facing depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, grief/loss, transitions, caregiving, and recent diagnoses.
I love being able to see people get better. I have witnessed people’s incredible strength and resilience as they face some of life’s toughest challenges. Though changes can often be outside of our control, growth is our choice to make. I believe growth happens best when we have authentic, intentional support. My approach to counseling is largely in part believing in the power of connection and providing a space of sincere empathy, acceptance, and genuine interest.

Traditional psychotherapy works toward congruence in a persons thinking, emotions, actions, and life choices. Body-oriented therapy understands that the body is also profoundly affected by our life experiences. Identifying and releasing attitudes and old images held in our physical structure adds an important component to therapy. This promotes lasting change, allowing for free flow of life energy from within us so we can more fully realize our life, our joy. I am also founder of the Seattle School of Body-Psychotherapy, and enterprise of Body-Psychotherapy of Seattle.

Therapy can be such a gift to oneself. A moment to pause and reflect amidst everyday life. A safe space to release emotion and work through old wounds. A place to explore areas of growth and build new habits. I believe that each person holds the answers for themselves, inside themselves but we often get lost in the clutter. I offer a supportive and compassionate space for you to sort through that clutter and let go of what no longer serves you in or for you to live as your most authentic self. Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
