My therapeutic approach is tailored to adults who are currently experiencing depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal deficits, and other issues regarding the self. I am a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and work well with the individualistic and affirmative fashions in which human beings choose to self-identify. As a licensed clinical social worker, I believe that the individual is part of system: the micro (familial), the mezzo (immediate community), and the macro (the world at large). I look forward to speaking with you.

I draw on a DBT, Schema Therapy, CBT, EMDR and creative and expressive arts based modalities to assist clients in resolving past trauma, anxiety and developing new skills to handle life’s challenges, as appropriate to client needs.
My primary therapeutic goal is to support individuals in their journey towards healthy and sustainable growth, including resolution of any past trauma. Often when faced with change or difficulty, people may feel anxious not knowing what to expect or they may fear a potential outcome. I enjoy providing space to be curious, explore factors in life contributing to these feelings and help individuals develop skills to help manage this distress. By learning how our past and current stressors impact our lives, we can learn about ourselves and grow.

The path to healing is not one-size-fits-all or linear. Regardless of who you are, we're all out here just trying to be human. The decision to seek help is not an easy one, but my calling is to make the process feel safe, approachable, and welcomed. My goal is to be your mirror and witness to your story. I hope to create a collaborative and safe space to address your needs, achieve your goals, and bring peace and contentment to your whole self.

Please be you. Maybe you don't know who that it is. Or you do––and you're not a fan. Either way, you deserve to be the proud narrator of your own life story. As a gay man, I'm all too familiar with masking for social and romantic success. Low self-esteem, social anxiety, and addiction issues are common results when you dislike the sound of your voice. Together, we can bring your inner voice out. I like to use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in offering you tangible tools that act as rose-colored goggles. For who you are today. Let's work on characterization and plot. And let's give your life story a rewrite, if necessary.

Life comes at us fast and we’re not always ready for it but that’s okay! I believe that we all crave connection with our peers, friends, family, and partners. And when we aren’t working on those connections, we’re working to build our connection with ourself. To fully work through that and make progress, I use a direct approach in helping clients address concerns that may arise from their connections with others or with themself. I believe that the most progress can be made when it’s accompanied with empathy and unconditional positive regard - two pillars of therapeutic work to foster growth and a sense of safety.

2.5 immediate daytime openings! It’s easy to put your mental and emotional wellbeing last on the to-do list when life gets overwhelming. But what might change if you put yourself first? When you feel stronger and more balanced, the demands of life become easier to manage.

Throughout this individualized process, clients are better able to release self-destructive thought and behavior patterns, which greatly enhances the quality of life. I have counseled many in and out of addiction recovery and am well versed in spiritual recovery methods and trauma-informed healing modalities.

You are in luck! Thankfully you no longer need to sift through anymore therapist profiles on this site, I assume you're looking for a competent therapist to help you deal with the various curve balls that existence throws at us. First off, life is hard & we need other people to help us through times when things fall apart. All of us have fears that most of us spend a lot of energy avoiding for good reason. But unfortunately avoidance can get in the way of our growth and compound our difficulties. Going about this alone can make our challenges even more difficult. We need someone with compassion/skillset to guide through the BS

Do you struggle with low self-esteem, anxiety, negative self-talk, feeling not good enough, feeling like a failure, or feeling like you're somehow flawed or unworthy? Do you compare yourself to others and feel like you fall short? Or does it feel like no matter how hard you try, it's never good enough? While you may already have a pretty good idea where these feelings may be coming from, you may not know how to get out of them. No matter how much you try to 'think positive', the old feelings still come back to plague you.

Schema Therapy

How does schema therapy work?

Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?

Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?

Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognizing and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?

Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
