In my practice, I view the counseling relationship as a central healing element and indicator of change.
Are you ready to begin making significant changes in your life? A trained professional can help stand by and guide you; you're not alone. I typically treat depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, adjustment, and relationship issues, but I was educated to work with a broad spectrum of mental health issues. During my training, I received specialized clinical experiences for working with survivors of traumatic events, have felt marginalized by society or their family systems due to their identities, career issues, relationship problems (e.g., loneliness, insecurity, preoccupation, attachment, etc.), and issues with body image and eating.

EFT is an evidence based modality and is shown to be highly effective in decreasing conflict, improving relationship satisfaction as well as increasing feelings of closeness & connection.
We are influenced by the families that we grow up in and our adult love relationships. These important relationships shape how we respond to the complexities and challenges in our lives and can sometimes leave us feeling lonely, frustrated, or disconnected from ourselves and those who are most important to us. Most of us want to feel connection, closeness, and security in our important relationships and sometimes we don't know the path to get there. Stronger, more secure relationships increase confidence, emotional security, and emotional well being in the face of life's stressors.

Do you find yourself gripped by anxiety and worry, no matter what you do? From relationship to relationship, you keep finding yourself in the same negative cycle. You might be asking yourself: Why do I keep ending up in relationships with partners who treat me horribly? Why do I always feel like I have to be there for everyone else, but no one is there for me? You know you need to make a shift, you're just not sure how. You want to gain deeper insight into yourself and your past experiences, and you’re ready to change your “default setting” and start creating new patterns in your life.

The continual challenges to our values, relationships, roles, and purpose can leave us feeling unfulfilled, unmotivated, isolated, and overwhelmed. Therapy can be a calm and safe space to pause, reflect, and uncover new parts of yourself and build understanding of the environment that surrounds you. My approach focuses on the lifespan from child to adult and from individual to couple and family. I encourage growth in genuine self-compassion, re-alignment of personal values, and implementing healthy relationship boundaries for stability, confidence, and purposeful movement toward your goals and overall mental health well-being.

People often come to therapy struggling with a particular feeling, relationship, or question that they can't seem to escape no matter what they do. Why? Research shows us that our struggles are typically about far more than they appear on the surface. Often the problems of our present are deeply rooted in our pasts and the lessons we learned from our families, cultures, and formative experiences. Yet, many are unaware of the learned assumptions that govern their lives, even when they get in their way.

My areas of specialty include relationship issues, fertility challenges, and life transitions — family planning, adjusting to parenthood, job changes, recent moves, aging parents, existential questions.
Are you struggling to live the life you want? Are you feeling sad, anxious, angry, or frustrated with your current situation? If so, I'd love to help! Through our work together, you can lead a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life. I work hard to create a compassionate and safe environment that fosters personal growth and lasting change. During therapy, I challenge clients through open and active dialogue and observations. At times, I also find a hugely important part of my work involves helping clients accept what they cannot change to free themselves from being stuck in the past.

I work with men and couples who are coping with anxiety, depression, dating and relationship issues, divorce/parenting/coparenting or communication of their needs in order to build stronger and deeper connections with themselves and others. It can be incredibly challenging to build healthy emotional attachments to the people in your life when dealing with anxiety, depression, poor modeling and the struggles of everyday.

As a couples therapist, my goal will be to help you gain an understanding of yourself, each other and the patterns of your relationship in an effort to rediscover and deepen your connection.
It takes strength and courage to face your problems head on yet, if we don't we will only continue to live in doubt of ourselves and the world around us. Starting therapy is not an easy choice but, hiding behind our fears will ultimately just leave us feeling stuck. I believe we all have a warrior inside of us that can get us through anything life has to offer and I would like to be a part of the process in your discovery of this internal strength.

I bring a strong attachment focus to my work, and I believe the relationship we create together has immense potential for healing.
I believe that often, our deepest experiences of harm and trauma take place within relationships, and the ways that others relate to us has an enormous impact on the ways we learn to relate to ourselves. My work with clients often centers around exploring and integrating past experiences of harm, and through this, inviting clients to new ways of relating to themselves in the present. I am passionate about helping clients grow in self-awareness, courage, and self-compassion.

Our counselors include staff and intern therapists that offer skillful support in a wide range of areas including those that specifically impact individuals and relationships - anxiety, depression, intimacy and relationship dynamics, disordered eating, use of substances, and oppression including sexism, racism, and homophobia.
As an organization we recognize that QTBIPoC folx tend to experience disproportionate amounts of mental health disparities due to large gaps in our current mental healthcare system. Here at MEND we believe that part of addressing those gaps is through the consistency of our intersectional feminist lens. In an effort to promote equity, we are expanding our team and client population to include members who hold identities that have not traditionally been offered at MEND. And while we center supporting QTBIPoC folx, we also offer services to those who do not hold these identities.

I believe that humans are inherently relational. When our basic needs for love and safety are left unmet, we can experience loneliness, low self-worth, and mistrust in relationships. My focus in therapy is to highlight the cycles of pain you may find yourself and/or your relationship in, and to assist you in building greater self-awareness, sustainable coping strategies and ways of relating to others. I am passionate about helping my clients to develop greater self-compassion and deeper connections in their relationships.

I have extensive experience helping navigate issues in Parenting, Relationship Challenges, Relational Trauma, Substance Use, Chronic Illness/Pain in the individual and family, Mood Disorders, and Acute/Complex Trauma/PTSD.
The goals of therapy are directed toward providing a positive and collaborative forum to ease presenting difficulties; and draw on the individual's strengths and resilience to enable greater contentment and satisfaction in life. The foundation from which I view issues is from a systems approach. Thus, my focus is on the relational context that each individual resides within. Additionally, I borrow ideas from Attachment , Emotionally Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral, and EMDR constructs when tailoring goals developed for each person's unique needs.

The therapeutic relationship we will build is aimed at recognizing your strengths grounded within cultural and individual values.
Life can be challenging and change is inevitable, and with transitions there are many aspects to growth and loss. I work with individuals, couples, and family systems; often dealing with unprocessed grief, trauma, parenting, identity issues, and midlife decisions. It takes courage to communicate the strong emotions felt within these difficult topics, especially to those you love the most. I prioritize holding a non-judgmental space for these strong emotions to be seen, heard, and liberated.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
