I believe that we all have tremendous potential for healing and improving our relationships with ourselves and those around us. From the time we are born, we are met with messages from society at large, the families we grow up in, and the systems and institutions we interact with that inform how we see ourselves. But what if some of that information is flawed? Figuring out our own truth can be incredibly challenging when we have been working with bad facts. I provide my clients with a non-judgmental space to see themselves with clear eyes, and increase safety, harmony and understanding in their relationships, to reach their goals.

Loss doesn’t only occur when someone dies. At times, the grief that accompanies loss can be debilitating. Whether it is caused by the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, the loss of an opportunity, or the loss of faith in ourselves or our world, grief can make us question everything we know. But you don’t have to go through this alone. Together we can work through the pain of grief to accept the reality of the loss and adjust to living a new and fulfilling life.

As a licensed mental health counselor, I work to provide a safe place for my clients to explore their stories, learn about themselves, and progress towards their goals. When therapy concludes, my hope is my clients have a stronger sense of self, more authentic relationships, and a greater understanding of their life's potential and impact. In order to do this, I utilize psychodynamic and existential psychotherapies in collaboration with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

I have a passion for working with people experiencing life transitions, including divorce or loss, forming new step families, co-parenting, or struggling with parenting concerns. My approach is to explore problems systemically, viewing each client within the context of the world around them. In therapy sessions we will explore trans-generational patterns of behavior that exist within you, and within your family of origin and your family of choice.

I work with adults primarily on issues related to trauma. Trauma often involves lack of control over a situation, so as part of the work, I help my clients regain their sense of power and choice in our sessions. Safety, non-judgement, and kindness are valued in my practice as the foundations of the therapeutic work, and I encourage open communication about the client’s experience with therapy. I offer a flexible approach to counseling because I believe that what works for some of my clients may not work for others, and we learn what that looks like as we work together.

If you are here that means you are likely seeking support for something in your life that feels difficult, overwhelming, confusing, or painful. My work is to offer you a safe, kind, and accepting space to further explore your internal and external realities. Together we will be curious about your unique life experience, the impact of your experience, the struggles and conflicts you may be facing, and what you need to thrive. I believe therapy is the process of uncovering who you were meant to be before the world told you who you should be or wounded you with its expectations and cruelty.

Hello. My name is Ronnie Kaufman and I've been in the mental health field for over 40 years. I have a Masters degree in Social Work and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My clients tell me that I make them feel very comfortable and safe talking about things they never would have imagined discussing with a complete stranger. I believe that individuals and couples have within them the potential and resources to cope with life's problems. I also operate from the assumption that how we think, feel and behave is usually rooted in our role in our family of origin and is brought into play in our current lives.

These emotional and behavioral patterns seem unshakeable; they show up in relationships and keep you from feeling the joy and genuine connection you desire. You may be able to logically trace these patterns to an origin in childhood trauma or internalized oppression, but in the heat of the moment, it’s as if your body goes on autopilot, and the cycle repeats once again. These patterns have been creating stagnation and isolation that are getting too painful and exhausting to cope with anymore. As a therapist, my goal is to help you transform these patterns so that you can experience a greater sense of agency, belonging, and ease.
