I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a 30-year history of working with individuals, couples, and groups. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Washington in 1991, and became licensed in Washington State in 1993. I served as Staff Psychologist at the VA Hospital in Seattle for 25 years, working with male and female veterans with histories of combat PTSD and military sexual trauma. Now, in my private practice, I emphasize Cognitive Behavioral and Evidence-Based treatments for PTSD, depression, anxiety, trauma, sleep disturbance, eating disorders, and interpersonal relationship skills.

These emotional and behavioral patterns seem unshakeable; they show up in relationships and keep you from feeling the joy and genuine connection you desire. You may be able to logically trace these patterns to an origin in childhood trauma or internalized oppression, but in the heat of the moment, it’s as if your body goes on autopilot, and the cycle repeats once again. These patterns have been creating stagnation and isolation that are getting too painful and exhausting to cope with anymore. As a therapist, my goal is to help you transform these patterns so that you can experience a greater sense of agency, belonging, and ease.

Back in the day PR's were a common occurrence and you were basking in the sweaty glow of potential. Now, you can't put the pedal to the metal to save your life. All the work you put in with nothing to show for it, is maddening. You can't stand to have people see you struggle. I mean, you're the one that blows by competitors offering salutations. Now, you're pulling out of races, putting off joining a club team, and posting less on strava from sheer embarrassment. This leaves you more lonely than ever, and makes it hard to justify early bedtimes and skipped social events.

Life can be challenging. My intention as a counselor is to help any individual I get the privilege of serving to lead a life of wholeness. With the right tools and support, each of us can heal and grow. As a mom and wife, I understand the unique challenges of parenting and relationships. Additionally, being a military spouse I have experienced multiple moves which have caused me to learn how to be resilient in the midst of change. As a counselor, I show up to each session open, honest, and prepared to assist you in unique ways. I look forward to connecting with you!

My sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds stems from my own experience as a person with mixed Asian and Pacific Island heritage. This perspective allows me to empathize with the challenges individuals from similar backgrounds face in advocating for their well-being.

I aim to empower others like me who have constantly heard “it is not okay to go to therapy and share your personal life with anyone,” to help shift this tabooed narrative into a more positive one. It is OKAY to share your personal life with someone who can help build that trusting relationship with you, and it is also okay to express your feelings and emotions without feeling the pressures of shame and guilt. I use the space we create together to encourage deconstructing harmful internalized messages, processing experiences of attachment and trauma, and managing relational and personal challenges.

My clients explore many facets of their lives with me, including their feelings of anxiety and depression. I also walk alongside people who are navigating their racial identity. Others are in a space of transition in their career paths and personal relationships. Finally, I specialize in working with people grieving a loss in their lives. No matter what your struggles are, my capacity to sit in difficult spaces with myself is the cornerstone of the work I do with those who engage with me in therapy.

Do you sometimes fall victim to negative thinking? Do you feel like you live in a constant state of stress? You may be struggling with mental health challenges, loneliness, or patterns that no longer serve you. Whatever it may be, my goal is to help you transform your thinking, discover a deeper understanding of yourself, and be able to connect with the world in an entirely new way. I believe in the power of connection, and the healing relationship between client and clinician. Therapy can act as a non-judumental space for you to share your world and, specifically, what it is like to live your life.

As hard as we try to avoid it, pain and suffering creep into our lives and make us feel heavy, stuck, and hopeless. However, it doesn't have to stay that way. Together, we can create a space to heal and grow from the pain you've been carrying. It starts by carefully unpacking your story and the experiences that have brought you here. Then, we will work toward discovering a path to greater hope and freedom.

I work alongside individuals, couples, and groups who are seeking to address experiences of grief, depression, anxiety, relational conflict, racial trauma, LGBTQIA+ issues, spiritual abuse, PTSD, and COVID related issues. Together we will explore the ways that therapy can assist you towards achieving your personal goals for wellbeing. Healing and transformation is a lifestyle and we all require assistance in cultivating a life that will help us navigate unavoidable difficulties. Isolation works against these efforts which is why seeking therapy is truly one of the best things you can offer yourself.

For me therapy was the bravest journey I've taken. Making the choice to engage in therapy for many feels an act of desperation or extreme need, but what I've found for my own experience and my clients is that it requires looking inside and at our actions, and this can be quite a scary thing to do. So finding bravery has already started with "walking" in my metaphorical door, and I work to help clients continue to find it throughout the therapy work.

Life is unpredictable and difficult at times. Things don’t always work out the way we planned or expected they would. When we find ourselves out of balance and upset; it can be helpful to talk about our thoughts and feelings with someone who will listen. In a safe space, it will be easier to consider what is working for you and what is not. I’d like to offer you that safe space and to help you by listening and discussing your situation and experience. I believe in the strength and resiliency of each individual. I know you possess the power to regain balance in your life and I’d like to help you do that.
