I also integrate EMDR which is a very effective and client-centered approach to processing the troubling things that have happened in our lives.
Are you feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, or like something is just out of balance? Most of us living in the world today have experienced some sort of trauma. The effects of trauma can manifest in many different ways and are unique to everyone: trouble focusing, trouble sleeping, feeling agitated or annoyed all of the time, struggling to connect with friends or feeling like it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning. Sometimes we may not be able to describe what we’re feeling, there’s just a felt sense that something is not right.

I am trained in EMDR, and I also have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
I believe that therapy is meant to empower clients to feel that they are capable of change and living a fuller, more integrated life. I work with individuals and couples dealing with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and family conflict. I utilize a systemic and bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach in therapy. This simply means integrating the many parts of a person into therapy. I also aim to explore the impact of significant relationships and the influence of larger social systems on client's sense of wholeness and ability to achieve desired growth.

Some of these approaches include EMDR, narrative work, healing of attachment wounds, CBT, and building distress tolerance and coping skills to feel more grounded in your body and more free to live in the present.
My name is Kelly Merdinger. I specialize in therapy for clients experiencing complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and challenges in their relationships. I work with clients in cultivating self-compassion and empowering beliefs by processing and understanding past painful experiences. It's normal to feel "stuck" when our bodies and minds are overwhelmed. My goal is to provide an affirming and safe space to slow down as your emotions are expressed, validated, and integrated into a new and healthier understanding of self.

My experience has focused on creative and body-centered approaches to growth and healing, including art therapy, trauma-sensitive yoga, dreamwork, and EMDR. This includes grief work and issues that accompany trauma-related treatment, such as anxiety, depression, and existential/spiritual issues. Additional themes in clients' healing work include explorations of relationships, sexuality, and identity. I love working co-creatively with clients of all ages and backgrounds.

Sessions can include traditional talk therapy while sitting or walking; grief retreats, or EMDR and parts work intensives.
I am inspired by our ability to withstand and get through tremendous pain. Yet, in a cultural system that perpetuates trauma and oppression, it can be difficult to embody the sense of whole-ness that we desire. I want to walk alongside you in reclamation of your resiliency and vibrancy, finding your most alive self. Whether you are dealing with mental health issues related to trauma, oppression, isolation, relationships, impulsivity, grief, or other life pains; I want to center what matters to you, hold what you have to say with compassion, and help you rediscover a fullness in being alive and in your body.

I have a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Embodied Creative Arts Therapy, prior certification in chemical dependency/addiction counseling, and certification at EMDR.
Are you feeling stuck? What's getting in the way of living a satisfying life, one with heart and meaning? You may be coming to therapy because of a new development or something very old, you may not even know what it is. You may also be adding to your burden by judging your self unfairly. But there is hope, therapy can usher in exciting transformation. When we can embrace the gifts that come with challenges, old fears lose their power. I deeply enjoy helping clients explore/work through difficulties with the purpose of breaking old patterns and intentionally creating a new path forward. Healing and growth is possible for you too.

In addition to existential humanistic psychotherapy, I have training in mindfulness, attachment based therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, and expressive arts therapies.
I believe that all mental anguish begins with loneliness and disconnection. This is why my approach to psychotherapy is grounded fundamentally in the relationship that we build together. Together we will move through suffering, creatively identifying new possibilities and ways of experiencing life. We will find hope and build your capacity to love both yourself and others more fully. From within this relationship, you will be able to safely try new things, to see what works for you, to ultimately move forward in your life with more ease. I like the expression "human flourishing" to describe this process.

I am an EMDR-trained therapist who integrates IFS with somatic interventions.
Brené Brown says that “sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.” My clients are those who want to show up for themselves. They are often deeply-feeling people who have struggled to integrate all parts of themselves, but who are ready to experience the confidence that comes from owning painful chapters of their stories. My clients are deconstructing, grieving, and redefining who they thought they were. They have often experienced difficulty within religion and wonder who they really are under the conditioning, how to make authentic decisions, and how to live a life not dictated by shame.

I am trained in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing as well as Lifespan Integration.
The stress of everyday life can often feel overwhelming to us, creating confusion and fear. I believe that our early relationships and past experiences offer the key that can unlock the mysteries of why we often feel at odds with the world around us. I also believe the body and brain hold onto traumatic events and affect our current functioning. I approach therapy from a psychodynamic perspective, creating a safe holding environment to explore those relationships and influences. I would be honored to help you achieve your goals and assist you in creating increased contentment in your life.
