I've been passionate about offering therapy to queer people for all of my 40 years as a therapist. While therapy with gay men has been the heart of my practice, along the way I've gained experience working with other people and situations: e.g., women; people of various classes, ethnicities and races; massive cultural trauma; HIV and other grave and/or chronic illness, including migraines; grief and mourning. And I love working with artists! Since moving to Seattle in 2006, I've found myself working with a wide range of couples, work which remains rewarding, challenging, and a welcome constant in my practice.

Accepting new clients! I believe in the transformational power of the therapeutic relationship. We all face overwhelming or confusing times in our lives, where we may feel like we can’t catch a break. Whatever the circumstances, having someone on our side while we explore our thoughts, feelings, and needs can make all the difference.

Are you struggling with something? You might feel like life isn’t as vibrant as it once was, or relationships are fraught with conflict. It can be difficult to get out of these places in life on our own. You might feel like it’s best to tough it out or figure it out alone, but you don’t have to. Most of my clients struggle with depression and trauma which causes their lives to feel less like places of their own creation and more like somewhere they just ended up. I welcome clients of all backgrounds who are seeking agency and meaning.

People can get stuck in painful emotional states and relationship patterns, for all kinds of reasons. I help people with chronic emotional pain, depression, anxiety, and the aftereffects of trauma and abuse. I focus on helping people work through sources of pain, and build their capacities for a satisfying life. In couples counseling, I help partners hear and understand each other in new ways, and create the space they need to thrive as both individuals and as partners in a relationship.

Have you been stressed, depressed, or anxious recently? Do our systems leave you angry at best and empty at worst? I am here to support you as we navigate through a society that emphasizes profits over people, and devalues and degrades so many of us. I focus strongly on social justice and how the lack thereof impacts our mental health. You deserve a space to share your emotions and values and find meaningful solutions. I am casual, laid-back, empathetic, neuro-divergent and candid and I welcome and embrace all.

I ask that you are ready to make a commitment, to yourself, first. I consider this the first step of the journey - I am here ready to make the commitment alongside you. Think of it as the beginning of falling in love with yourself...your relationships, and ultimately your life. If you are reading this I hope you answer the call, to yourself...it is the beginning of the type of change you have dreamt of, meeting your best self, meeting your soul.

Emotions are often like water. They slip through our fingers, overwhelm us in crashes, ebb & flow like waves. Therapy can be a place to explore the depths of our emotional experiences, building our capacity to hold them, and our ability to learn from them. My training in existential phenomenological psychology provides my grounding, meaning your experience is central to our sessions. I approach therapy with an integrative practice, mixing theories and modalities to find the right tools for each person I work with. I will ask what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, and individualize our time together to meet your needs.

Facing life’s inevitable challenges can often feel daunting. Taking the first steps toward healing is a powerful choice. With intentional time and effort, we can build the skills to confidently navigate what arises. With whatever you bring into the therapy space, you deserve to be met with unconditional support. As a clinical mental health intern, I offer a safe and accepting space for all individuals to explore their concerns. My lived-in experiences offer perspective on LGBTQIA+ care, collectivist culture and cultural diaspora in immigration.

As an organization we recognize that QTBIPoC folx tend to experience disproportionate amounts of mental health disparities due to large gaps in our current mental healthcare system. Here at MEND we believe that part of addressing those gaps is through the consistency of our intersectional feminist lens. In an effort to promote equity, we are expanding our team and client population to include members who hold identities that have not traditionally been offered at MEND. And while we center supporting QTBIPoC folx, we also offer services to those who do not hold these identities.

My practice has a special focus on the issues specific to Black & BIPOC folx & their relationships with their children, partners and families. I look forward to working with those who are motivated to explore, understand and love themselves while creating positive life changes. Sometimes our past continues to impact our present life. Other times life creates conflict and tension for us and our families. For BLACK & BIPOC folx the stress of navigating racial bias, discrimination and racism in our world, plus intergenerational trauma add challenges to our healing journeys. I feel honored to walk this path with you! Are you ready?

I have no ideal person who might consult me. I try hard to avoid placing people in theories. What matters is the relationship I will have with you. In collaboration, we formulate the therapy goals and how best to achieve them. Each person brings his/her own entrenched detrimental beliefs, that have blocked achieving such complex goals as satisfaction in love and in work. In therapy, I expect those beliefs to be tested. Where I intervene has more to do with fostering resilience, and with the challenging of fears/anxieties that often accompany the sense of incapacity and isolation.

We reach out for help when something in our life gets our attention. It could be distressing feelings and thoughts, paralyzing indecision, stress, relationship challenges, trauma, illness, just to name a few. We can feel vulnerable, lost, alone. Oftentimes, the original issue which first got our attention takes us on an unexpected journey. We are given the opportunity to deepen into our relationship with ourselves and the divine in ways that heal and change us beyond anything we imagined. This reverberates into every aspect of our life bringing happiness, renewed vitality, a sense of belonging and feeling engaged in life, contentment and peace.

I work with those who struggle with anger. Often times the anger is brought on by unmet expectations and merely a symptom of deeper issues under the surface. It's my job to metaphorically stand in a place you can not see, and point you in the right direction as to the cause of what is contributing to the anger. By doing so, you can receive insight that will enrich your life and change it for the better.
