I love my work. I love to hear people’s stories about what makes them feel alive and what inspires them. I love helping people to feel more connected to their environment and trusting of themselves in the process. What fascinates me about the healing process in psychotherapy is reflecting upon the vulnerable, groundless mystery of the human journey and the endless revelations of the unguarded heart. The focus of my work is on the unique story and experience of each individual. My approach can differ in some ways from standard talk therapy.

I believe we are all created for connection in relationship, and that all relationships have the potential to bring great joy and great struggle. Through our therapeutic relationship, by addressing the concerns that bring you to therapy, a process occurs that produces healing, transformation, and growth. My approach to counseling varies, but is rooted in trauma-informed, relational psychotherapy, focusing on key attachment relationships, and exploring the moments, social and cultural constructs, and ideologies that have shaped you.

Are you overwhelmed or confused by emotions? Unable to stop thinking about things from the past, or future? Is it hard to connect with others, or be authentic in relationship? Therapy can help. My practice is humanistic, client centered & mind/body/spirit oriented. I will never invalidate your experience; I will not tell you to move on, get over, or let go of something that is weighing on you. I want to explore, uncover & help you process what is stuck & holding you back. When past experiences are treated with honor & loving kindness, instead of shame, blame, or are minimized, they have opportunity to heal. Your innate resilience

I think life can be compared to a Hero’s Journey. While we may not have the same linear storyline with visible obstacles and hard earned victories, we are on a journey nonetheless. Therapy can help us explore the uncharted domains of our psyche, our overwhelming fears, our surprising heroic capabilities, and our joy. I use an integration of many therapeutic modalities in order to explore this including relational psychodynamic therapy, somatic/body psychotherapy, and attachment based therapy creating a more experiential and formative experience overall.

I enjoy working with folks have felt like outsiders in family and community. I get needing a place to rest. My focus is working with gender traumas, anxiety and helping clients navigate transitions of all sorts. I use an approach that looks at how we exist in the world and examines suffering from a personal perspective, but also from a social justice, feminist and transformative justice perspective. I believe this is your time, space and story to tell. I work with plurals and systems and am often referred to clients from therapists who do not feel comfortable working with system folx.

At The Care Center I specialize in relationship counseling and complex trauma, PTSD, and Dissociative Identity Disorder. I help marriages or couples dealing with infidelity, blended family issues, conflict, communication issues, and couples in crisis. I'm also passionate about helping others heal from past traumas. My philosophy is to find the roots of the problems and resolve them rather than simply helping learn awkward coping skills. At The Care Center you won't learn weird communication skills or deep breathing techniques. We work on healing wounds and rebuilding trust. When you do these things you won't need more "skills."

I see healing as the process of understanding the patterns that influence our perception of, and how we act within, the world that surrounds us. For many, these patterns might have been protective, at one point in time, though might not be serving our needs in the present. Therapy offers a space to feel seen, heard, and accepted. I believe that the individual is the expert on their life, and I trust their experience. I seek to follow the client while noticing my own curiosity that I have cultivated through schooling and experience working in the field of psychology.

You’ve made it this far which lets me know you are brave and ready to make some changes in your life. Together we can explore your emotional needs and break down barriers that limit your full potential, get in the way of your relationships, or keep you stuck. There are many things we can do on our own, but true self-discovery and positive, enduring change is more likely to occur within the context of a caring and committed therapeutic relationship. Together we can pay close attention to what’s bothering you, and to what you need, so that you can begin to develop a healthier, self and more loving, fulfilling relationships.

You may grapple with depression, anxiety, and trauma, alongside challenges in relationships and social situations. These can feel insurmountable. You may face uncertainty about your career or identity, feeling disconnected and overwhelmed. Men, especially, may find it tough to express their worries and lack the context to share deeply. Therapy contains the things that feel out of control and, once a week or more, you have a safe place to bring yourself fully and authentically.

I work with individuals whose issues range from the effects of serious trauma to those needing help meeting personal and professional goals. Most of my clients are result oriented professionals. As a solution focused therapist, my primary goal for each session is to facilitate movement and create value. One of my areas of focus, Work Life Stress, Trauma, and Burnout, has led to a decade working with countless Amazonians. I have a deep familiarity with the company culture, and of the unique challenges and rewards inherent to working in that space. I’m also adept at working with chronic and acute mental health challenges.

Life is about connection with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. Unfortunately, not all of us were raised in ways that makes it easy to make those connections, leaving us feeling distant, numb, anxious, confused, or frustrated. Therapy provides the space for you to say what you really think and feel, in confidence, and without the fear of judgment. It’s the holding of this space, and the development of different life-skills that allows us to build the connections you're looking for in your life.

It takes strength and courage to face your problems head on yet, if we don't we will only continue to live in doubt of ourselves and the world around us. Starting therapy is not an easy choice but, hiding behind our fears will ultimately just leave us feeling stuck. I believe we all have a warrior inside of us that can get us through anything life has to offer and I would like to be a part of the process in your discovery of this internal strength.
