Evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, and TFCBT, mindfulness-based therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy.
I am committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients. I see my role as helping people identify self-limiting beliefs, emotional blocks and other barriers that keep them from leading lives consistent with their authentic selves and their values. I combine theoretical and psychological insights with more pragmatic skills training (relaxation, conflict-resolution, communication skills). I have an active, direct counseling style that combines genuine empathic listening with therapeutic challenges.

Life can be difficult at times. People could feel "dissatisfied with life," or "unfulfilled," despite the efforts. Collaborating with a skilled psychotherapist could help a person or a couple identify and break the maladaptive patterns, make positive changes, and experience more happiness. I am a bilingual (Chinese & English) psychologist with over 20 years of training and experience. I adopt an integrative style, blending elements of Psychodynamic, Interpersonal, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) through the lens of attachment and culture.

1) Dialectical behavior therapy for people with intense emotions and self-identity issues.
People are not their diagnoses even though these labels can sometimes be informative. I prefer to get to know you. Specifically, what do you want out of therapy? What is currently working for you, not working? What brings you in to see me in this moment? Therapy is not only about reducing our suffering, but also finding meaning and fulfillment in our lives. It is about getting to know ourselves, parts that we love, parts that we are afraid of, parts that we don't yet understand. People are also not things that need to be "fixed", instead, this is a place for healing, self-compassion, and growth.

I draw from mindfulness-based approaches like DBT, ACT, MBSR, MBCT, and Mindful Self-Compassion that allow me to incorporate my personal connection to Buddhism into my work.
If you're feeling out of alignment with your true self, my hope is to be a guiding light for your journey back home. We're constantly inundated with messages about who we should be and what we should prioritize, but what others expect of us doesn't always align with our desires. In fact, some people prefer that we neglect our inner experiences, emotions, and needs. Particularly for those of us who have been silenced or marginalized, we've faced powerful obstacles to connecting, loving, and honoring our true selves. My aspiration is to help you become a loving protector and nurturer for you and rekindle your relationship with you.
