My sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds stems from my own experience as a person with mixed Asian and Pacific Island heritage. This perspective allows me to empathize with the challenges individuals from similar backgrounds face in advocating for their well-being.

I specialize in delivering evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders. The science is clear on what therapy works best for these issues, yet often clients who need it most never access the right type of care. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatment is considered the gold standard, and while many providers implement various CBT tools and techniques, they are not incorporated in a structured way as the research indicates. With over a decade of experience and thousands of hours delivering CBT treatments, I have cultivated a profound understanding on how to help folks with these issues.

I find that Motivational Interviewing has been a helpful approach for me to utilize with Solution Focused , Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person Centered to meet the client where they are and focus on their strengths to help them to identify how they can formulate the change that they are seeking in their life. I look forward to identifying the changes for the client to realize that the effort they are putting in is worth the work and effort that they put forth. I am just here to help the client enhance the tools that they already possess.

I use a Humanistic approach in therapy, focusing on understanding your perspective to collaboratively achieve your goals.

Do you feel stuck but also don’t quite know where to start to make positive changes in your life? Most of us have been there. In this increasingly complex world it can be difficult to create moments of peace and contentment, and listen to our inner voice. We are constantly bombarded by different types of stimuli. Despite so many ways to communicate with people, sometimes it feels like no one is really listening to what we have to say. How are we supposed to foster joy, gratitude, have satisfying and meaningful relationships like this? If you have had these thoughts a little too often, maybe it is time for us to work together.

The path to healing is not one-size-fits-all or linear. Regardless of who you are, we're all out here just trying to be human. The decision to seek help is not an easy one, but my calling is to make the process feel safe, approachable, and welcomed. My goal is to be your mirror and witness to your story. I hope to create a collaborative and safe space to address your needs, achieve your goals, and bring peace and contentment to your whole self.

I counsel people who strive to excel and do good in the world. They often start therapy during transitions, needing to recalibrate old ways of thinking and acting to feel and function better. Some work in stressful careers and struggle with mood, motivation, attention, and work-life balance. Some experience social anxiety, avoidance, isolation, conflict, or depression. Some suffer with intrusive thoughts, avoidance, “stuck” thoughts, and distress associated with trauma. Some express systemic, existential, and spiritual concerns for the world. Some are young-adult or middle-aged men striving to adapt and grow through life’s stages.

My clinical experiences have involved working with adults and adolescents impacted by mental health disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Within these age ranges, I have worked with the following populations: veterans, military, military families, civilians, neurodivergent, minority, unsheltered and unhoused, and LGBTQIA2S+. I am also a sex-positive, kink- and poly- friendly therapist.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists
How does cognitive processing therapy work?
A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.
What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.
How long does cognitive processing therapy last?
CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.
How effective is cognitive processing therapy?
A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
