I use a combination of Attachment Based interventions, Gottman Tools, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other systemic therapy models to help individuals, families and couples slow down, connect, and identify patterns that are no longer serving them.
I believe that we all have tremendous potential for healing and improving our relationships with ourselves and those around us. From the time we are born, we are met with messages from society at large, the families we grow up in, and the systems and institutions we interact with that inform how we see ourselves. But what if some of that information is flawed? Figuring out our own truth can be incredibly challenging when we have been working with bad facts. I provide my clients with a non-judgmental space to see themselves with clear eyes, and increase safety, harmony and understanding in their relationships, to reach their goals.

Utilizing attachment, systems, relational, and behavioral theories, I work collaboratively and non-judgmentally with you to create an individualized plan that incorporates research-based interventions.
Sometimes feelings and behaviors become obstacles to accessing your strength. If you don't accept yourself as you are, you can't change--a paradox, but true. Self-acceptance can be difficult, especially with history of abuse, trauma, or opression in which shame/guilt become integral to your sense of self. Destructive behavior, in whatever form, has its own logic, but is understandable given your history. We cope in ways that serve to protect ourselves in childhood--serving a useful purpose back then. But now, they prevent you from having stable, close relationships and feeling an empowered sense of self.

I practice mindfulness-based therapy, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and inner-directed therapeutic approaches.
You may have heard a saying that depression arises from living in the past, anxiety from living in the future, and the antidote for both is living in the present. Many of us push away the present moment with distractions, automatic behaviors, over-committing, substance use, and screen-time. Other times when we slow down enough to be present, we might not like the person we find ourselves to be - out of alignment with our environment or acting in ways that don’t match our values. However you are trying to get "un-stuck" or find a more authentic self, it helps to have a guide who can help you find footing.

We will work together using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to navigate life changes, couples counseling, professional development or family therapy.
Our relationships reflect the best and worst parts of ourselves. You might be struggling to find a rewarding partnership, meaningful friendships, collaborative co-workers or efficacy as a parent. A strong therapeutic relationship can provide perspective and support as you navigate your personal and professional obstacles. In time, your life can be an integrated, balanced, sustainable system that grows stronger in the face of change and adversity. Every day provides opportunities to live the life you want.

Please be you. Maybe you don't know who that it is. Or you do––and you're not a fan. Either way, you deserve to be the proud narrator of your own life story. As a gay man, I'm all too familiar with masking for social and romantic success. Low self-esteem, social anxiety, and addiction issues are common results when you dislike the sound of your voice. Together, we can bring your inner voice out. I like to use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in offering you tangible tools that act as rose-colored goggles. For who you are today. Let's work on characterization and plot. And let's give your life story a rewrite, if necessary.

I will bring my curiosity and training to your thoughts, your feelings and your behavior to provide an environment where we can work to understand why you have become the person you are, as we work towards the person you hope to be.
Sometimes our emotions are incredibly difficult to listen to. They are always speaking to us, like messengers trying to relay information, but often there are blockages that keep us from trusting our emotions, or knowing how to truly listen to them. We can quickly talk ourselves out of things that somewhere deep down, we KNOW to be true. I want to help you by providing an environment where all the complexities and parts of you are allowed to show up and have a voice at the table. I will provide a safe space for you to sort through your complex, layered and sometimes confusing emotion - to find your most authentic self.

You don’t have to be alone. Today, your journey to healing begins. I aim to know my client. This allows me to undertand their issues, their needs and their goals. Growing up with disability provided an opportunity for me to rise above discrimination, bullying, racism, oppression, marginalization, anxiety, depression, and face life’s unending challenges. I am fluent and can provide therapy in three languages fluently, English, Ilokano, Tagalog. I am trained in Eastern and Western approaches. I use evidenced based treatment interventions including but not limited to EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Approach.

Some of these are: cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, existential, interpersonal, dialectical-behavioral, attachment, and family systems.
I work with teens, adults, and families. I believe that counseling is, first and foremost, a relationship; positive change can only take place when the relationship is based upon honest and open communication, collaboration, and trust. With individuals, my goal is to help you build upon your existing coping skills, deepen your insight, and work with you to develop healthier approaches that will improve your ability to handle future stressors, challenges, and losses. With families, my goal is to help identify challenges and collaborate on an action plan for family success.
