Some of these are: cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, existential, interpersonal, dialectical-behavioral, attachment, and family systems.
I work with teens, adults, and families. I believe that counseling is, first and foremost, a relationship; positive change can only take place when the relationship is based upon honest and open communication, collaboration, and trust. With individuals, my goal is to help you build upon your existing coping skills, deepen your insight, and work with you to develop healthier approaches that will improve your ability to handle future stressors, challenges, and losses. With families, my goal is to help identify challenges and collaborate on an action plan for family success.

My therapeutic approach is influenced by existential, CBT and mindfulness theories.
People come to therapy for many reasons. When we are in pain, confusion, fear or sadness we seek support and understanding. Sometimes we are going through a difficult transition and just need someone to talk to. Other times, we have specific goals we would like to reach, or coping skills we would like to learn. The therapeutic process is a creative and compassionate practice that is based in the respect and safety of the relationship between the client and the therapist. Challenges are often opportunities for growth, and often lead us to a greater understanding of ourselves.

Life can be difficult at times. People could feel "dissatisfied with life," or "unfulfilled," despite the efforts. Collaborating with a skilled psychotherapist could help a person or a couple identify and break the maladaptive patterns, make positive changes, and experience more happiness. I am a bilingual (Chinese & English) psychologist with over 20 years of training and experience. I adopt an integrative style, blending elements of Psychodynamic, Interpersonal, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) through the lens of attachment and culture.

I have training and experience with DBT, CBT, and Mindfulness.
I want perspective clients to know I genuinely care about the people I work with, and have a passion for joining people on their journey to a new self. The fact that you are searching for a therapist shows you would like something to change. We can often lose perspective about situations and how we deal with them. This can also be a result of things we have buried from our past, or relationships that did not support us in the way we needed.

I specialize in CBT, DBT, and ACT for individual and/or group therapy providing psychoeducation, processing groups, and coping skills that could help in the recovery process moving forward in a positive regard.
I am accepting new client(s)! I provide individual and/or group therapy for people from all walks of life. I have worked with people who have symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD to name a few. I like to meet people where they are in the here and now and help them get to where they want to be. Often times the first step into healing is learning to have compassion and love for ourselves as this helps facilitate the desire to care for yourself as well as giving you the motivation to make the changes you would like to see happen. Therapy is a collaboration between the client and therapist working together in order to see change.

I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy into my practice.
We all have difficult experiences during our lives. These can include loss, grief, change, death of a loved one, illness, and many other situations that disrupt our lives and sense of self. During these challenging times it is important to feel heard and seen. I am here to listen and to help my clients find and nurture their own strengths to manage through and grow from difficult experiences. Change can be sad, scary, and exciting, but it is my goal to help my clients work through all of these feelings.

My therapy work is integrative in that I draw from multiple frameworks such as narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and solution focused therapy as appropriate for each individual client.
We are products of the stories we carry. They shape who we think we are, who we think we should be, and who we want to become. We are given stories by our families and those who raised us, from our peers and colleagues, from culture and society, and perhaps most important are those we create for ourselves. Some of them are empowering and give us strength to carry on through difficult circumstances. And some of them oppress us, keeping us from living in inner congruence or creating unnecessary conflict in our relationships. Through therapy, it is often helpful to examine these stories to gain understanding and curate them as needed.

I have additional training in Telehealth and I'm certified and trained in Emotional Focused Couples Therapy, DBT, CBT and Gestalt.
Life comes at us fast and we’re not always ready for it but that’s okay! I believe that we all crave connection with our peers, friends, family, and partners. And when we aren’t working on those connections, we’re working to build our connection with ourself. To fully work through that and make progress, I use a direct approach in helping clients address concerns that may arise from their connections with others or with themself. I believe that the most progress can be made when it’s accompanied with empathy and unconditional positive regard - two pillars of therapeutic work to foster growth and a sense of safety.

I combine classic models such as cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy with wholistic practices such as mindfulness, yoga, and artistic expression.
Therapy is a vehicle of exploration of your higher self. Clients are encouraged to assess their overall functioning across the life domains to identify their healing/wellness opportunities. Trauma exposures are often stored in the body and can manifest in maladaptive ways such as low self-esteem, shame, anger, interpersonal conflict, impulsivity, stagnation, anxiety, depression, and demoralization. Accordingly, I approach therapy from a collaborative perspective encouraging clients to discover their medicine by honoring their truth and intrinsic value.
