Do you struggle with overwhelming emotions, a noisy chaotic mind, and/or feel disconnected from your self and your purpose? Let's work together. The current world we live in can often feel overwhelming, and can make us feel stuck, anxious, or low energy. I work with trauma, anxiety, grief, self-esteem and self-expression, among others. Together we can work to metabolize traumatic experiences and emotions, expand your toolbox of helpful coping strategies, heal and deepen your relationship with your self and others, and help you live in a state of grounded peace and self-empowerment no matter what difficulties arise.

Spirituality is the foundation of the form of synthesized addiction and mental health counseling I offer. My clients engage in the powerful experience of looking within to reconnect with their own Self, which powerfully transforms relationships with others, and most importantly, the relationship with oneself. Throughout this individualized process, clients are better able to release self-destructive thought and behavior patterns, which greatly enhances the quality of life. I have counseled many in and out of addiction recovery and am well versed in spiritual recovery methods and trauma-informed healing modalities.

For years I've saved a delightful comic by Randy Glasbergen that shows a human counseling client lying on a couch with a therapist sitting next to him. The therapist is a dog who says: "My therapy is quite simple: I wag my tail and lick your face until you feel good about yourself again." Although I don't have a tail and I don't lick anyone's face, I think there's a lot of truth in that canine counselor's style of therapy. As a matter of fact, I think that helping people feel good about themselves is one of the most important and enjoyable aspects of my work.

Life can be difficult and painful at times but it doesn't have to involve so much suffering. How may we find the calm stillness in the eye of our storm so as to relate to our mind and our present experience compassionately and even learn and grow from it? I invite you to open to your life in a new way: a way that relieves your suffering and promotes your health and expands your awareness. Through mindfully listening to the body and courageously opening and relating to the uncomfortable/painful, somatic therapy provides a practice of gentle self-exploration toward discovering your connection to your truth, purpose and life.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has a heart for empowering women to live joyfully inside their bodies through liberation-work and self-compassion. I approach therapy from a systemic, person-centered, feminist, sex-positive, and HAES lens that's rooted in social justice. I understand the ways that oppression and trauma influence how we connect with our bodies and I view coping mechanisms as survival strategies that develop in response to our experiences. I believe there is wisdom in our coping and I enjoy helping clients compassionately attune to their body’s needs and connect to their intuition.

I’ve been in private practice for nearly 20 years. My passion is to work with individuals, couples, and groups who are committed to growth and change. I want to empower people to be more connected and integrated with the core of who they are and the roles they are living. I work with a combination of somatic approaches that examine how the body holds our thoughts, beliefs, stressors, and anxieties and how to understand, relieve, and shift them.

I'm excited and hopeful at the prospect of working with anyone that is curious about the possibilities of what therapy can do and be. I do not have any rigidly defined senses of what therapy needs to look like or what kind of work should happen inside a therapeutic space, but I do have a mission to foster that space as a place of trust, compassion, curiosity, and liberation. My hope is to attract and work with clients who feel they are interested in and ready for beginning a new kind of relationship - one that may better enable them to catch sight of themselves and therefore understand themselves in new and meaningful ways.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is a collaborative process and a unique form of conversation. In this treatment modality we recognize the centrality of relationships in our development and explore constitutive effects that significant relationships and significant events have on our mind; how they guide our wishes, fears and conflicts. Human self-awareness is always limited, and our behaviors, choices, interests, and conscious beliefs are influenced by internal and external forces that we may not be fully aware of. Psychotherapeutic experience provides the opportunity to shape a new experience of being through deeper self-understanding

You might be seeking therapy because you’re feeling worn out, anxious, and out of alignment with where you want to be in life. Therapy can help you embody ways of being that support who you are and who you’d like to be in relationship to yourself, others, and the larger community around you. Every person comes to therapy holding unique stories, thoughts, beliefs, emotions, values, experiences, and behaviors. I offer a relationally supportive, collaborative, and warm environment where it all belongs and I would be honored to help you sort through it all.

My work is influenced by the thought of existentialist philosophers and psychologists who speak compassionately to a profound and uniquely human dilemma—the quest for meaning in the face of suffering. Psychotherapy provides a safe and intimate space in which we might expand our capacity to bear suffering and to find meaning within and through it. Depth psychology proposes that the psyche consists of both conscious and unconscious thoughts, impulses, fantasies, and ideas. Symptoms (of depression, anxiety, addictions, etc.) are more than painful indicators of psychopathology.
