You are looking for a therapist who can get it and guide you through to the other side.

I believe that we are relational beings, and that health can be cultivated in intentional, honest, and reciprocal relationships that respect and reveal our inherent dignity. Because relationships with others and ourselves hold great promise and power, they can also be the focus of most of our pain as we move through life. The therapeutic relationship we build together acts as a staging ground and microcosm to help you renew the relationships you have with yourself and others in life.

Accepting new clients in person and virtually - Are you experiencing a lot of emotions as you navigate one of the biggest transitions of your life? The period before conception, the pregnancy, and life postpartum have incredible challenges. You are not alone. It is my professional purpose to provide support to folks during those moments. My personal experience as a Latina immigrant navigating the challenges of motherhood in the United States drives my commitment to perinatal mental health and to working alongside immigrants and individuals from underrepresented communities.

You feel overwhelmed, burned out, unfulfilled, or anxious despite appearing to be on top of everything. Though you value kindness and caring for those in your life, you wish you had more time for yourself and could dismiss messages about what else you “should” be doing. Your achievement-oriented focus, while it helped you succeed thus far, leaves you without enough space for what’s meaningful to you, particularly as you look at the mess (climate & politics) around you when you're not trying to numb out or feeling cynical about effecting change. You're seeking hope and energy to spend where, when, & as you wish.

Relationships can be hard, especially the parenting one. My style of therapy is based on the latest research in how the brain (neuroscience geek!), body, and emotions work together. For 20 years, I've partnered with individuals and couples, facilitating thriving relationships: parent-child, partners, co-parenting couples, divorcing couples. The most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves. I can help you explore relational wounds and teach you new skills to experience more satisfying relationships. Let's talk and see if we're a good fit.

The Glory of God is a human being fully alive". -Saint Irenaeus As a clinician, I work with individuals struggling with a variety of issues and ailments. I believe that most recurring mental and emotional struggles are actually indicators of larger issues in need of resolution. In our work together we will both engage the symptoms you are experiencing AND trace their historical connections so that you can access a more transformative and holistic healing.

I work with individual adults and adolescents who need a safe and honest place to reimagine what life can be, as they navigate difficult and overwhelming experiences, relationships, or transitions. While our work can include clinical assessment and specific treatment goals, you are likely interested in therapy for more personal reasons. Perhaps your life has become dominated by loneliness, confusion, broken relationships, unmanageable anger or deep sadness. Perhaps you feel completely stuck. Your priorities and needs will guide our work together.

Our emotional worlds are always speaking, yet we don't always understand its language. As therapist my goal is to bring a sensitive mind to the important work of listening with you to your honest experience, for the truths that want to be heard and have much to give. We will work towards easing your most difficult symptoms while, over time, bringing curiosity as to what goes on for you at a deeper level than perhaps you knew how to think about. I aim to support you in developing a better relationship to the painful places in you, and a deeper friendship with yourself that feels liberating, empowering, and enlivening.

**My practice is 100% Telehealth**Welcome! I believe in attuning to my clients through the use of curiosity, compassion, and humor. I see therapy as a tool for reconnecting each of us with our innate strengths and clarifying our goals. In our work together we will examine messages you have received across your lifetime and decide where they fit into your personal world view now. My practice is collaborative, and informed by person-centered, evidence-based, and developmental theories. I incorporate findings from neuro-psychology, humanistic, and systems perspectives and believe your therapy should be a co-created experience.

While some of the issues leading us to start psychotherapy might be relieved relatively quickly, I have found that many issues are more complex and sometimes require time and the right attention to effectively work through. I believe the best work ahead of us isn't to alleviate our negative symptoms, but to help create real, lasting change; change that helps bring us closer to what we want for ourselves. I strive to create the connection, attunement, and sense of care needed for us to do this work together.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
