My specialty is helping clients understand why certain patterns have emerged in their lives. By fully appreciating our unwanted patterns we can gain clarity about how to change them. I believe lasting change comes from an awareness of our beliefs and values coupled with habit change. Some unique issues I work with in addition to the listed concerns are; difficulty relaxing, grief and loss, feeling others' feelings, and perfectionism.

I believe that each person strives to feel contentment and become the best version of themselves. This can mean something different to each person, which is why I enjoy the diversity that each individual brings to therapy. It is exciting to watch the growth that individuals experience with some guidance and support. I specialize working with mood disorders & trauma. Trauma is any experience that has overwhelmed your ability to cope and has impacted how you now perceive yourself and the world around you. We can work together to heal and grow past previous experiences so that you can be the best version of yourself

If you’re tired of recycling the same argument, walking on eggshells with each other or don’t know how to repair your relationship, I can help you get to the root of your disconnection. I help distressed, disconnected couples remember what it's like to be sexy best friends instead of roommates. Together, we will identify your entrenched ways of arguing so that both of you can break these patterns by learning how to clearly state how you’re feeling to your partner and in turn, listen deeply. I'll help you pay close attention to each other, so that you both feel a little more held each time we meet.

Through mindfulness, playful exploration, and various evidence based therapeutic methods, I provide tools for a vibrant & connected life.
Do you crave a more playful, connected, & inspired life with meaning & purpose? Do you wish for compassion as your default & the mental space to respond thoughtfully rather than react automatically? If you grew up feeling neglected or uncelebrated, struggled to be vulnerable, or have a hard time relaxing, you’re not alone. I believe in radical incrementalism, focusing on 1% changes for consistency over intensity. We are all inherently worthy of love & belonging but often develop maladaptive behaviors to cope with societal pressures. My passion is to help alleviate loneliness & empower you to connect deeply with those around you.

Available for weekend and weeknight sessions! Currently, I am specializing in relationship issues, self-esteem, and women’s issues. My strong suits are empathy and my ability to really understand where someone is coming from, and I use that to develop a positive path forward. Rather than sticking to a particular method, I custom tailor my session to meet the unique needs of each individual. Earlier in my career, I was published in peer-reviewed journals for my research in Clinical Psychology.

Do you feel overwhelmed and stressed? Or maybe you find each day a battle to get out of bed and check things off your to do list? You might not feel like your usual self and don’t know why. Maybe you find yourself struggling with relationships in your life, wondering how to change things but unsure which direction to take.

I blend spirit & teach mindfulness to help you be self aware and present in your body and life.
Are you told that you're too sensitive? Are anxiety & overwhelm familiar, and have you found yourself in unhealthy relationships? Do you sometimes feel like you're different from others? Do you yearn for deep meaning & authenticity? If yes, then maybe you're a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) like 20 to 30% of us who have a heightened sensory system. We are born sensitive & empathic, and we're deeply moved by the world within and without. We feel and notice every nuance so we need someone who understands us with kindness and compassion, because it's so hard to be sensitive in an insensitive world, especially now.

In my work I also use Experiential Therapy Techniques, DBT, Mindfulness and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy skills.
We all get stuck & that's simply part of being imperfectly human. There are times in life when we need someone to walk beside us as we navigate new paths into healthier relationships. Relationships with ourselves and others. Intentionally cultivating new patterns of interaction and deconstruction patterns that no longer serve us. I act as a choreographer of conversations, aimed to explore emotional connections & attachment injuries and impasses. As humans, we have a biological need to feel seen to be safe, secure & connected in our relationships. I work collaboratively with clients creating safety, change & a new path forward.

My philosophy is client-centered, Mindfulness based, trauma informed, and goal oriented.
I want perspective clients to know I genuinely care about the people I work with, and have a passion for joining people on their journey to a new self. The fact that you are searching for a therapist shows you would like something to change. We can often lose perspective about situations and how we deal with them. This can also be a result of things we have buried from our past, or relationships that did not support us in the way we needed.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
