Compassion, mindfulness, and healthy boundaries lead to successful life transitions.
We all experience anxiety, fear, depression or suffering - especially when faced with life transitions. Teens transitioning to adulthood, families transitioning through marriage/parenthood/divorce, and individuals transitioning through career changes are all common, but often stressful experiences. These transitions also have the potential to bring joy, reflection and peace. However, we all need help sometimes to find the joy in our lives. I particularly enjoy helping adolescents and young adults find their path through the world.

I use strengths-based, mindfulness-based, psychoeducation, CBT, gestalt, client-centered, IFS, and hypnotherapy in my practice.
Most of my work will focus on helping you manage life stressors, whether you are feeling depressed, anxious, or have experienced trauma and/or grief. We'll aim to understand the roots of your problems and make healthier and more conscious choices moving forward. Sometimes I will challenge your thoughts, and at other times, we'll slow down together to reflect, process, and simply feel the emotions to gain acceptance of the things you cannot control.

I incorporate mindfulness, meditation, and self compassion teachings.
Whether you are dealing with stressors related to past trauma or current life challenges, you don't have to work through the emotional struggles alone. As we face complex challenges unique to the multiple roles that we hold in your life, it's easy to get lost in everyday responsibilities, ignoring the potential warning signs of depression and anxiety. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, angry, restless, racing thoughts, exhausted, stressed, living in survival mode; give yourself permission to heal! How you think+how you feel+how you act, creates your life. Take a mindful approach to an awake and poised you.

I enjoy working with CBT Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic/Attachment.
I started in this work because I found that people would naturally open up to me. Therapy is an extension of the core belief that we as humans require connection and to be understood. As a therapist, you will find me to be engaged and interactive in session. I work with a variety of issues including depression, stress, work-life boundaries, numerous mental health diagnoses, but at the core, a positive connection is what I would hope that you'll gain within our time together. I do this work because each person has a story to tell and positive changes to make. I would love to sit with you to find the pathway that is right for you.

If granted the opportunity to work with you, you’ll be gaining a therapist with a wide range of experience utilizing varying modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Yoga and Mindfulness, and Psychosocial Approach.
Hi, I’m Donna, MSW Therapist and Wholistic Life Coach. I’m elated to serve you during your most vital transitions and help you succeed on the path that best suits your ability to live optimally. Life can be a challenge, I know. I am also aware that with every obstacle comes solutions that are viable for maintaining better outcomes. Particularly, there are times when we have to identify and examine uncomfortable behavioral patterns and dynamics that impede on our ability to function at our best. Confronting these limitations can often times feel like shame and guilt, and disassemble our ability to possess compassion for our process

I use an eclectic approach at times and often utilize cognitive therapy, existential therapy, brief/solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness psychology.
Human beings are unique, complex, and possess the capacity for change. Although adversity and struggle can feel overwhelming, can make us feel lost or stuck, our essential selves are not lost and are not wholly defined by depression or angst or trauma or grief. Compassionate, respectful support provides a space to explore, discover, reclaim, change, heal, and grow.

Although treatment varies based on who you are and what your goals are, I tend to work from a relational and mindfulness-based approach.
Life can bring seasons of goodness, joy, and fulfillment, however, we sometimes find ourselves feeling stuck in painful patterns or feeling lost. I center my work around building an authentic and trustworthy therapeutic relationship where you can work through your life experiences, past or present, in a space of non-judgment and compassion. I offer individual or couples therapy and specialize in identity development and self-esteem, relationships, trauma, life transitions, and sex/sexuality.

I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy that includes: CBT, DBT, Trauma Focused-CBT (in children and adolescents), relaxation & mindfulness training.
In our present lives, due to the high levels of stress, so many individuals of every age are suffering with their mental health. Our mental health is a vital part in living a quality life. The first step is always the most difficult in anything we do, especially when it comes to letting others know we need help. That first step towards positive mental health involves the realization, that you may need another person to come along side of you, to assist in leading the way forward.

I also draw from CBT, MI, Narrative, strengths-based, somatic and mindfulness approaches.
I believe in the importance of feeling connected in relationships, to our environment, and to ourselves. Addressing the “here and now” that arises during therapy allows our sessions to adapt and work with the difficult emotions or thoughts that come up, in an environment that is judgment free and safe. I specialize in working with those who are experiencing anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, trauma, life transitions, self-esteem issues, grief and chronic pain, among other issues. I am LGBTQIA+, gender-affirming, and enjoy working with clients along the spectrum of neurodiversity and disability.

My relational therapy employs Mindfulness meditation, Somatic (body based) therapy, ACT, DBT .
Life can be difficult and painful at times but it doesn't have to involve so much suffering. How may we find the calm stillness in the eye of our storm so as to relate to our mind and our present experience compassionately and even learn and grow from it? I invite you to open to your life in a new way: a way that relieves your suffering and promotes your health and expands your awareness. Through mindfully listening to the body and courageously opening and relating to the uncomfortable/painful, somatic therapy provides a practice of gentle self-exploration toward discovering your connection to your truth, purpose and life.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
