Welcome! My name is Gabe Guth and I currently work with adults of all ages experiencing an array of concerns including shame, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and self-esteem. Maybe there is a need for an unbiased, non-judgmental human to listen to the challenges unique to you. Perhaps COVID has heaped on an additional layer of stress that you weren't prepared for. Neurobiology demonstrates positive change is possible and I'm excited you've taken this step in finding relief. Additionally, as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, I enjoy working with individuals from a military background and the unique challenges they face.

Trauma, identity, and how we feel are intricately related to one another. I am passionate about exploring these topics with you and providing culturally-sensitive, judgement free safe space for you to feel comfortable to talk about these topics. As a member of the queer community, I understand the complexity of identity and how it shapes our world, and sometimes causes traumatic experiences. Those traumatic experiences are anchors that make us feel stuck and bring us back to points in the past where we felt unsafe and harmed. I provide a safe and healing space to redefine and reimagine trauma to help you live more authentically.

Are you heartbroken? Anxious? Angry? All of the above and more? You are welcome here. You may have a relationship that is falling apart or make the same bad decisions again and again. You may be overwhelmed by an overly critical mind that says you are undeserving, less than, or too much. Perhaps you take care of others and forget to take care of yourself. You long for companionship and have a deep desire to matter, to belong, and to be respected.

I believe you hold the answers to the challenges that bring you to counseling. It is my job to support you finding them. I aim to work with acceptance, respect, and trust - allowing our work to be guided by you. In session, I listen both for what is said, as well as process – the often unspoken patterns and strategies of relating. I see mental health and well-being as a sense of wholeness. In this state, the many parts of ourselves are in agreement. I firmly believe that even the most disturbing or distressing experiences are potentials for growth and learning.

I perceive life as a journey, consisting of searching meaning and coping: Meaning in different roles and aspects of life motivates us to move forward; coping is strategies to get there from here. However, at different life stages, we often got stuck because of different reasons. Thus, either we no longer can see the life meaning(s) and/or our coping strategies are no longer effective. We are likely stuck under these circumstances, which leads to sufferings. I believe that counseling is a catalyst to facilitate the needed changes & adjustments to get unstuck and to have a meaningful life again.
