Marilyn Baker is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate with experience in corporate and nonprofit sectors working with diverse populations and internationally. She has been involved in Christian ministry since 2016 and received her graduate degree from Western Seminary. She focuses on providing direct counseling services to those in high-stress work environments and those struggling with chronic physical or emotional burdens.

Clients who work with me feel empowered and reassured on their first visit, and they continue with me, because they notice changes happening. For the past 20 years, I've worked in private and group practices, providing counseling and other services to people from many different walks of life. I help people re-evaluate, become closer to a loved one, process difficult decisions or transitions and grieve significant losses. I enjoy helping people become more truthful about themselves and live with integrity. I fiercely protect the privacy and confidentiality of my clients and provide a private, safe setting for our work together.

I specialize in couples therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Method. Are you and your partner struggling with communication? Maybe it feels like you're having the same fight over and over again. Do you find yourself walking on eggshells, waiting for the next big fight? Perhaps trust has been broken and you're not sure how to repair it. Maybe you're feeling exhausted- Unable to concentrate at work or home. At the end of the day, one thing is for sure: You're ready for some relief. You're ready to repair hurts in a meaningful way. Most of all, you're ready to move forward with your partner with security and love.

I offer land-based therapy. This work entails an embodied experience of healing through a collaboration with nature and myself. I believe wholeheartedly that our wellness is interwoven with the health of our environment and remembering we are also nature. My office is outdoors, on land being stewarded to enhance the prairie ecosystem and support sustainable food practices. A typical session will include mindfulness practices to regulate the nervous system, activity that supports a relationship not just with self, but also connecting to land, typically through gardening and other land stewarding practices.

When we struggle with depression, anxiety, pain from the past, or traumatic stress, our relationships struggle too. Often the pain experienced in relationships with our loved ones is what drives us to find relief and solutions from the disconnect and disruption we are in the midst of. We don't just want to feel better, we want to be better: Better to ourselves, better to those we love. Engaging in therapy and neurofeedback is about looking for the solutions that will enable us to move beyond the obstacles and into the connections we really desire.

Each of us has a wealth of wisdom within us, but circumstances sometimes prevent us from accessing our own innate wisdom. Therapy is a process of discovery and a way to receive assistance in accessing your own deep wisdom. My role as your therapist is to walk beside you on this journey and to help you make the most of your unique inner wisdom through talking, reflecting, learning, and discovering your own inner strength, resiliency, and ability to navigate life's challenges successfully.

I am unable to accept new clients at this time. Relationships may be difficult to say the least. Sometimes we feel blindsided by life's twists and turns. We all struggle at times to feel understood or with self doubt, while searching for solutions to overwhelming problems. Whether you are an individual or couple troubled by a present, past or current event, taking that first step, towards talking to someone who may be able to help sort things out, may be one of the most difficult things you do. I would like to make it a little easier.
