Making your therapy appointment is hard, but once you’re here with me, you will be in a safe space and a judgment-free zone. Together, we can find solutions that work best for you. I strongly believe clients know themselves the best and possess the tools to build the life they want to live. My job is to help invoke change clients want to see and guide them through this process. I’m here to serve all walks of life, and I understand life itself can be challenging. Being Mexican- American, I have experienced disparities growing up and still to this day. I truly believe talking to someone we can confide in makes navigating life easier.

Pema Chodron says that when we start a journey towards healing "we often think that somehow we’re going to improve, which is a subtle aggression against who we really are." I work to come alongside you as you start your journey to understanding yourself as you are now. Typically, any change that needs to happen is a step out of your comfort zone. That step can be scary, but it is essential to growth. I combine mindfulness with traditional therapy approaches from a trauma informed lens to help connect you to your inner knowing. It's time to fully step into your own power and grab what you want and deserve out of life.

Currently accepting new clients. Trauma, attachment + identity impact people in different ways. Do you often feel detached or numb? Do you avoid thinking about the past or self-medicate? Are you concerned about your parenting? Do you often find yourself in difficult relationships? Are you concerned about your memory? Do you feel sad or anxious a lot? Are you "stuck" in the same pattern? Do you have trouble trusting people? Are you irritable most of the time? Do you feel like you don't know yourself or your purpose? Do you feel incomplete or want meaning in life? If you answered yes to any-I believe I could be a good fit for you.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
