I graduated from a M.S. mental health counseling program at Eastern Washington University in 1995, got certified and ran a private practice in Seattle from 1995 through 2003. I worked in an outpatient community clinic, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, at retreat centers, and at a college counseling center until starting work on a PhD in Religious Studies and Psychology. I worked, studied, and lived in Europe, East Asia, and Africa before teaching 10 years at San Jose State University, so I am comfortable and confident working with very different sorts of people and I want everyone and anyone to feel welcome and at ease in my care.

Sometimes in life we all need a “companion on the journey,” someone to partner with us and help make sense of our experience, ease our pain, and support our goals. As a therapist, I am committed to providing a safe environment where individuals can identify their strengths, recognize unhelpful patterns, and live into their goals. Working from an integrative, client-centered approach, I seek to support individuals wherever they are on their journey and my approach is holistic, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I value cultural humility and look forward to working with people of all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life.

I'm so glad you're here. I appreciate the courage it takes to seek help, especially when you're unsure where to start. By researching your next step, you've already shown you're ready for personal growth in some manner. It may be fuzzy at the moment, but the spark is there: Desperate to be free of the negative and thirsty for living a positive, happy life. I assure you, you have every right to believe that your life can become more harmonious and in balance. I offer an environment in which discovery is encouraged. What makes you happy? What do you find fulfilling, exciting, fun? Are there areas that you need to change?

Starting therapy can be overwhelming and sometimes frightening, and I want to acknowledge the strength and bravery that it takes to try something new. I offer individual counseling for adults and adolescents (age 13+) with a wide range of presenting issues. I practice using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is all about creating new ways of handling your life’s problems to engage more fully and freely as you build a meaningful life. When we have a problem, it’s our natural drive to solve it. Most often, this works. However, when it doesn’t, it can leave us feeling lost and powerless to life's challenges.

I graduated from the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania with a master’s in counseling and mental health services (M.S.Ed.) and a master’s in professional counseling (M.Phil.Ed.). I have experience working with adults with diverse backgrounds, providing bilingual services (i.e., Mandarin and English), addressing a wide range of client problems, and managing different platforms for conducting therapy.

I am passionate about serving adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, addictions and trauma. I am interested in rooting out those issues that have remained in the shadows and need to be brought into the light and dealt with. I encourage honest introspection and life application in order to achieve long term healing.

I specialize in working with clients struggling with porn, sex, and masturbation addiction, chronic infidelity, and OCD. I also have a passion for assisting individuals as they navigate through challenges and doubts regarding their Christian faith. I am currently a Ph.D. student in Clinical Sexology and Behavioral Addictions at the International Institute of Clinical Sexology (IICS). I am also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP).
