My therapeutic approach addresses trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and early childhood wounding.
Therapy can be a powerful vehicle for insight and self-discovery. Working together, we will explore self-defeating thoughts, patterns, and behaviors so that you can cultivate a more compassionate and loving relationship with yourself and others. As we move through a process of self-discovery, one that recognizes your unique strengths, I will help you gain insight and balance so that you can more effectively meet life’s challenges and create lasting change. I believe in the resilience of the human spirit and heart to transcend and transform personal challenges.

I love working with clients with these anxiety, trauma, and family-of-origin struggles because I, too, have been there.
No current openings. My waitlist is approx. 2 months, please reach out for placement and referrals. I spent a lot of time making this page perfect, then realized it was boring. This page is supposed to be a snapshot of what you will get in the therapy room. I’m warm, inviting, and funny, and I value this intimate space. I want this page to help you decide if we’ll work well together, not just list what I’ve done. And what you probably want to know is (a) Do I know what I'm doing? and (b) What inspires me to work with clients around anxiety, trauma, and family-of-origin issues?

I usually start with practical strategies to help stabilize you before working on thought and relationship patterns, as well as trauma history, that contribute to distress.
I see you, burned out new parents, folks anxiously awaiting fertility treatment results, overwhelmed pregnant people. If you're somewhere in your reproductive journey - from just starting trying to conceive to struggling to maintain your composure during a toddler meltdown - then I've got you.

Trust, initially, is not earned, it is a risk. And so it means if you experience distrust upon our first encounter, well then you might just be a member of the human race. The safer someone is, the more likely they are to venture into trust, and so this is the primary specialization of therapy, to create a space that is safe. There are varying degrees of safety, but for the most part it comes when: you can be yourself, feel acceptance and positive regard, do not have to protect yourself from abusive behavior, experience confidentiality and kindness, a willingness by someone to help, and that the person before you is authentic.

Are you hoping to better communicate, manage conflict and revamp your connection with your partner? Or are you in the midst of a major life transition? My clients struggle like you. Despite their brilliance, creativity and drive, the pressures of adapting to life's changes or communicating with their partner seem overwhelming. Before my clients came to see me, they figured that it was “too late” to make a change, and their life “is what it is.” They feared that if they took any drastic steps to improve their lives, it would be considered “selfish.” The fear of change, but also the fear of never changing created tension and anxiety.

I approach my work through an anti-oppression lens as I provide trauma and abuse informed care.
You may be feeling that the strands of your life are unraveling and you want to make sense of it all. My private practice, Tapestry Therapy, is founded upon the belief that your life is like a tapestry, consisting of strands of stories that have been woven together to make one larger story. Our story is part of the larger tapestry of our family, race, culture, country and world. Through the work of therapy, we come to understand our stories and be empowered to decide how we will write future chapters. I utilize process therapy and Lifespan Integration, which is a somatic therapy, to help my clients reach their goals.

The way we experience life in and outside of our bodies is profoundly informative. I operate from the view that individuals have an innate wisdom and collection of strengths that guide their ability to heal and grow. Trauma and dislocation from the genuine self, whether experienced individually or systemically, influences how we live, how we love, and how we interpret the world. Painful experience can also connect us with our humanity and be deeply transformative: it can be the source of our healing, growth and resilience.

I bring an empathetic and non-judgmental approach to helping women heal from abuse, trauma, perfectionism, relationship and self-esteem issues and help you find ways to cope with anxiety and depression, understand yourself, learn to set boundaries and take care of yourself.
Accepting new clients and most insurances. Offering telehealth and in-person. Are you struggling with change or transition? Changes throughout our lives can challenge our sense of who we are and where we ended up. After years of struggle and pain, how did everyone else matter and not you? They say that change is the only constant, but for most, change sweeps into our lives creating crisis, relationship problems, grief, loss, trauma, depression or anxiety. Do the same hurdles keep stopping you from getting on with the life you always imagined? It can be stressful and overwhelming to navigate everything you have had to deal with.

My work is informed by attachment theory, neuroscience, trauma research and extensive grief training.
Grief is at the root of most struggles and can leave you feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. Friends and family often urge you to move on or just let go, but you feel stuck and don’t know how to move forward. Loss is hard, even if it isn't from a death. Whether your grief is fresh or you’ve carried it for many years, you don’t have to face it alone. I specialize in grief, attachment issues, depression and anxiety. A primary goal of our work together will be restoration - to restore hope and reconnect you to your heart. I want to help you move through your pain, rather than being weighed down by it, so you can live more fully alive.

I have experience providing therapy for a number of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and family issues, life transitions, and career and educational challenges.
Human beings are unique, complex, and possess the capacity for change. Although adversity and struggle can feel overwhelming, can make us feel lost or stuck, our essential selves are not lost and are not wholly defined by depression or angst or trauma or grief. Compassionate, respectful support provides a space to explore, discover, reclaim, change, heal, and grow.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
