Specific modalities: Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT); Ego State Therapy.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood swings, and PTSD. My approach is strengths-based and collaborative. I work with clients to enhance personal strengths while offering additional tools found in cognitive-behavioral treatments and DBT mindfulness-based skills. When indicated, I incorporate EMDR to treat PTSD; reduce anxiety and depression symptoms; and strengthen coping skills including spiritual resources. For clients seeking insight into how early relationships may be impacting their current relationships and well-being, I offer exploration in an accepting, interactive therapy relationship.

I teach my clients DBT skills, heal trauma with Lifespan Integration, utilize Gottman's Method for couples, and much more.
Hello and welcome! Allow me to state the obvious - psychotherapy with a stranger requires courage and feels daunting at first. I aim to make the process comfortable and less intimidating for you. If you've experienced trauma, are battling with addiction (yours or someone else's), feeling anxious, struggling in your relationships, or just want more out of life; faith-based counseling can be of great help. I'm passionate about helping marriages thrive and individuals heal. Having your story heard, your feelings validated, and your thoughts & patterns examined, brings new insight & change that your future self will thank you for.

I practice using a dialectical, holistic and strengths-based lens, leveraging your strengths while giving you additional tools to empower you to build your best life.
Welcome! We can all use a little bit of help sometimes. Having the courage to recognize that, and take action, says a lot about you and what you want to see in your future. Do you find it difficult to regulate your emotions, and see that this difficulty interferes in your relationships, work, school or other aspects of your life? Do you recognize thought patterns that repeat on loop and keep you stuck? Are there past events or present circumstances that you need help processing? Perhaps I can help. Therapy is a journey toward healing, acceptance and self-discovery. I would love to partner with you on your very personal journey.

We all have the ability to change, learn and grow. We are not born with skills, throughout our life we gain many coping mechanisms, but some of those are born out of survival, fear or toxic family dynamics and might make it challenging to navigate in relationships or during life’s transitions. For many this leads to experiencing a variety of symptoms. Life can also throw us some big curveballs that feel impossible to adjust to. I believe with assistance anyone can process the past, heal, build coping skills and cultivate a mindset that is needed to create a life that is enjoyable. I utilize DBT and EMDR to aid you in your journey.

Most of my clients come to me feeling stuck, having tried "regular" talk therapy and looking for something, a modality or a therapist to help them move past old patterns of relating and triggers. These old patterns and triggers left unaddressed can easily feel like they are taking over your life! Together, with your permission, we will dive deeply into your story and uncover patterns of relating that have been preventing you from the life you want to live.

Experiences. They create meaning, create beliefs, create rules, created your views of self and other. Your lived experiences influence the choices you make, how you show up in your relationships, and how you interact with the world. Experiences can leave you exhausted, depleted, and void of hope. Like a wave that crashes over you, pulling you under, tumbling and tossing you beneath its power, leaving you frantic for the way up, searching for that breath of hope.

Do you feel stuck? I am here to help you identify and change patterns that are no longer serving you. By listening to you without judgment, I gain a deep understanding of what is bringing you to therapy, then collaborate with you to identify new ways of thinking and being that will work better for you. Problems I often help with include processing adverse childhood experiences and recognizing how they impact us as adults; changing codependent relationship patterns; understanding the impact of attachment styles on relationships; restructuring negative thoughts; healing from eating disorders; coping with chronic illness; and more.

Everyone goes through difficult times. These times leave different marks on different people. I love working with clients who are ready to get healing for the pain and help to move on. Clients who are ready for a time when painful memories do not trigger painful emotions and physical responses. Clients who are ready for when anxiety is an occasional difficulty and then like a large, puffy cloud continues to wander on by. It takes work but healing is possible.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
