Your mind is racing, you feel overwhelmed and like you can barely hold it together. You feel the pressure of the expectations of others and live in constant dread of letting them down, or worse being discovered for being a fraud. Even in the quiet of the night your mind races with all the things you need to do, and is constantly worried about what you have forgotten, or who you may have let down. You feel powerless to change any of it.

Are you tired of feeling upset? Do you find yourself overreacting to situations? Have you tried talk therapy that didn't quite work? You're not alone. Traditional talk therapy often focuses on the mind, but what if the problem goes deeper? These experiences can get "stuck" in our bodies, leading to automatic reactions that hold us back. Many of our beliefs and emotional responses are formed early on, when we are too young to fully understand what is happening. EMDR addresses the body, emotions, and stored past experiences. I'll help you rewrite negative beliefs, process your past, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

I work with teens and adults who identify as quirky/nerdy, highly-intelligent, introverted, highly-sensitive, or as having ADHD or Autism (or some combination of these). Those with these traits often share something: a sense of outsider-ship, of not quite belonging. This can lead to loneliness, shame, isolation, depressions, self-loathing--all that fun stuff. I, myself, have 3 or 4 of the above traits, AND was homeschooled on top of it, so my own sense of outsider-ship was crowned with awkward homeschooler social skills :) Working, both on self-acceptance, and feeling like I belong, is something I enjoy sharing with my clients.
