Welcome! My name is Conner. I am passionate about stories, life being the greatest of them all. Sometimes along the way you feel stuck, trapped in a world that feels exhausting, confusing, even unbearable. These feelings may be new to you, whereby you find yourself in uncharted territory at a critical moment in time, unsure of what to do. Or perhaps you have found yourself in this position previously, wondering why these feelings keep resurfacing. The best part about this story of life is that what happens next has yet to be written.

Tharseo Counseling Services was founded around one idea: hope through a relationship with Jesus Christ. With hope comes the possibility of change, growth, and purpose. Without it, we can feel isolated, burdensome, and despairing. Tharseo exists for two reasons: First, to help the hopeless find their source of hope in Christ, which allows them to walk securely through life with conviction and purpose. Secondly, Tharseo assists those already with that hope to navigate obstacles that threaten to misalign them from their known purpose. We do this by integrating biblical principles with practical application.

If you have a desire to make changes, but aren't sure where to start or don’t feel like you have the expertise to do it alone, therapy can help! Stressors like communication issues or strife with your partner or family, anxiety or conflict at work or church, or past abuse or other traumatic experiences can all weaken the body's ability to be as effective in life. Having an intentional time each week to focus on yourself and your connections or stressors is what therapy can offer. It's a time to pause, reflect, and dive deeper into what's weighing you down and shore up what matters most to you.

I believe strongly in the inherent worth of people and viewing the human condition from a place that is non-pathological and intrinsically person-centered. Fundamentally, I seek to help people uncover the force that is within them all along- through cultivating a deeper understanding of their individual needs, values, and goals. I believe in the profound power of working to eliminate shame and normalizing neurodiversity and the neurodiverse experience.

For clients located locally, (CDA, Idaho and surrounding areas) I can offer in person and virtual support for parent and child using play therapy.
No Waitlist- schedule today! You’re worried about your child. They are struggling more than you anticipated and aren't their true selves lately. When you ask them what’s wrong, you get no information, but you sense something is off. If only you could see into their minds and figure out what they need to make the hurting stop. Being a parent is your greatest honor and your biggest frustration. What you've tried hasn't worked, you so badly want to reconnect with your child, but they seem farther and farther away these days.

We are all involved in relationships, with others and ourselves. These relationships evolve and change over time. At times, we can feel frustrated, unappreciated, misunderstood, or just on different pages. I offer an open, warm, and engaging environment. Through a process of thoughtful discovery we will focus on strengths and build from there. Often, we already have what we need to find satisfying and fulfilling bonds. For couples this may be seeking more intimacy, for families we may work on communication, for parents of younger children we may work on growing parenting skills and increasing positive behavior from children. The possibilities are endless.

I am also the author of several books on parenting, relationships and depression.
I'm a solution-focused, results-oriented counselor with a passion for helping people in the most efficient yet comprehensive manner possible. My clients and I identify opportunities for growth in all three aspects of mental health: behaviors, thoughts and emotions. I then suggest evidence-based treatment methods to match our specified goals. This often includes lifestyle change, healthy habit formation and cognitive therapy. Most often, I work with clients' present-day experiences, with less focus on the past. Many of my clients tell me that traditional talk therapy has not worked for them, and they want to try something different.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
