I offer trauma-informed care to help you build self-love and self-trust, strengthen relationships, address mood and anxiety concerns, explore your identities, discover and inhabit your true self.
As an individual and relationship therapist, I strive to help folks find empowerment, freedom, joy, and connection in the face of systemic oppression. My approach is warm, supportive, and relational. I am particularly passionate about supporting those from LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and immigrant backgrounds. Cultural messages and challenging past experiences can disconnect us from ourselves, from each other, and from our truth. I see my role as helping you uncover what is hidden, break free from constraining patterns, and reconnect with whatever and whoever make you feel most vibrantly and fully alive. Please see website for more details.

I AM NOT CURRENTLY TAKING NEW CLIENTS! My goal as a therapist is to help you uncover your true potential & lead a life that is worth celebrating. I work to provide a safe and nurturing enviornment where you can receive support, guidance & feedback as I help guide you towards positive change. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand & resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches & techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling &meaningful life.

As a psychotherapist and a former speech therapist, I also offer help with performance anxiety, stuttering, fear of public speaking, and support for parents and partners of neurodivergent people.
I believe that each person holds a unique essence and recipe for happiness within. Feeling confused about the direction of your life, "stuck" in the same patterns, same "mistakes" even though you "know better"? You are not alone. It happens because we can't just think our way out of patterns, blocks, and imprints of trauma. My clients report significant, tangible improvements in the quality of their lives and relationships. While the time it takes for changes to take hold varies, all clients report feeling better after the very first session. Sessions are non-intimidating, compassionate, supportive, and inspiring.

My therapeutic approach to therapy is client-centered, based on the belief that every person brings a unique and formative personal, family, and cultural experience. I have been influenced by Adlerian psychology, with emphasis on the healing power of a therapist-client relationship. I focus on who you are and how you experience yourself, strengths and “growth edges”, past and current relationship experience, and your style of relating, in addition to biological experiences on behavior and the influence of culture/society on you and your concerns.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
