In my approach to counseling, I listen attentively and non-judgmentally. I focus on people’s stories and the stories the world tells about them. I value these narratives, and hold them during our work together so that we may reference them in the process of creating a story that feels more in line with my clients goals and purpose. I also work with clients in exploring ways to alleviate suffering, reduce stress and increase self empowerment and enjoyment of one's life. My approach is strengths based and I believe we each have all the answers we need within us, sometimes we just need help teasing them out or trusting them.

As you seek therapy, you may have been feeling stuck, dissatisfied, and unhappy for a while. Sometimes it's hard to put your finger on why. Maybe you're ready to dig a little deeper into the journey that has led you here. I enjoy walking with clients toward a greater self-understanding and compassion toward themselves. Together we will listen to the stories you carry with you, and respond with care to what they have to tell us. This work creates the opportunity for a new clarity, and new opportunities for healing and change.

I strive to provide culturally sensitive, context-considerate counseling and psychotherapy aimed at developing deep understanding and acceptance of your unique experience on the road to finding new solutions for old problems.
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is a collaborative process and a unique form of conversation. In this treatment modality we recognize the centrality of relationships in our development and explore constitutive effects that significant relationships and significant events have on our mind; how they guide our wishes, fears and conflicts. Human self-awareness is always limited, and our behaviors, choices, interests, and conscious beliefs are influenced by internal and external forces that we may not be fully aware of. Psychotherapeutic experience provides the opportunity to shape a new experience of being through deeper self-understanding

I integrate culturally sensitive techniques while integrating systemic, postmodern, humanistic therapy modalities, including Bowen, Gottman and Attachment theor.
Are you feeling the weight of productivity culture, constantly balancing the demands of work, relationships, and self-care? Or perhaps, you and your partner are facing challenges that seem too complex to navigate alone—communication breakdowns, trust issues, or the stress of life transitions. These struggles are real, and they deserve to be met with a thoughtful, high-touch approach that honors your experiences, while fostering healing and connection.

I am a biracial and bilingual woman who believes that everyone is capable of growth with the right support system. Because no two people ever have the same experiences, I use a culturally sensitive and integrative approach to therapy. I believe that the past is often alive in the present and am therefore interested in finding out how unresolved issues may keep showing up for my clients. As a professional athlete who has experienced both the empowering and oppressive aspects of sports culture, I have a particular interest in helping women find their voice and learn to trust their instincts.

Life does not happen in a linear fashion but rather we cycle through different experiences that change how we see ourselves, others, and the world. I work with clients who are struggling to overcome trauma or abuse, whether from specific events or more subtle every day micro-aggressions. I work with clients who are feeling overwhelmed or lost in their many life roles or experiencing distress relating to their cultural identity. Clients that I work with are open to bringing their whole selves (mind/body/spirit) into the space, embracing the natural human process to suffer and love, and hope to feel empowered in the change process.

I use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Common Elements Treatment Approach, and Motivational Interviewing.

Therapy is a space for you to feel heard, validated and supported. It's an approach to feel less anxious, work toward goals, heal from trauma, and improve relationships. It can sometimes feel impossible to find ways to thrive in the capitalistic, oppressive system we're in, especially for marginalized folks. It is my goal for us to find ways for you to feel safe, fulfilled and content.

I work with young adults and late adolescents who are navigating the transition into early adulthood. While my primary focus is on this age group, I warmly welcome individuals from all stages of adulthood and diverse backgrounds. My approach is trauma-informed, with a special emphasis on complex and childhood trauma. Thank you for visiting my page. I mostly work with folx with marginalized identities through relational/developmental trauma, anxiety, depression, overwhelming emotions, numbness/disconnection, history of abuse, and interpersonal/attachment issues. If you are struggling to find your place within the dominant culture and have realized that aspects of your identity exist in a state of 'in-between', you are not alone. Healing is possible. Here is a space to fully show up, explore your multitude, and heal.

Culturally Sensitive Therapists

How does culturally sensitive therapy work?

A culturally sensitive therapist will tailor their approach to therapy based on the individual client’s background. This may include changing their style of interaction (asking open-ended questions vs. being the “expert” voice), their affect (seeming warm or “neutral”), how much personal information they disclose about themselves, and more. It’s also important for a culturally sensitive therapist to acknowledge larger societal forces that may impact their client due to the client’s background.

How effective is culturally sensitive therapy?

Some professionals have expressed concern about highlighting cultural differences in therapy, suggesting that it might promote stereotypes and harm the therapeutic bond; however, many experts agree that cultural sensitivity tends to strengthen the connection between therapist and client and help clients feel heard and understood. A culturally sensitive approach to therapy can be especially helpful for those not in the cultural majority, especially when combined with proven therapies like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

What are the limitations of a culturally sensitive approach to therapy?

While being culturally sensitive is generally a valuable skill to have, a therapist cannot treat every client from a similar background the same way. Each client is an individual with their own values, personal preferences, and life experiences that will need to be explored during therapy. In addition, it’s rare for a therapist and client to have identical backgrounds, so there may be some cross-cultural differences to navigate during therapy, but a culturally sensitive therapist can do so with empathy and respect.

Can culturally sensitive therapy be done online?

Yes, online therapy using a culturally sensitive approach can be beneficial. Therapy can sometimes be difficult to access for clients from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic standing. The array of mental health support available through the internet makes it possible for clients to find a good therapist match regardless of where they live.
