You want to break free from painful relationship issues, self-defeating behaviors, and just feeling "stuck." The wonderful thing about therapy is that it provides you with a sense of relief - with hope that things CAN get better - by giving you a safe, respectful and non-judgmental space to speak freely about what is troubling you, or what is painful in your relationship. I work to create a safe, respectful and supportive environment that alleviates feelings of aloneness, and facilitates connection, awareness, healing and positive change.

I enjoy working with couples using PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) to help couples learn how to regulate and support each other.
Currently Taking New Clients. I understand you are looking for help and this is the first step to healing your life. I specialize in working with couples, as well as adult individuals struggling with addiction. I see you as a whole person and am mindful of the pain you have experienced and get there are many ways to recovery. In my work with substance abuse I understand the feelings that come along with the burden of addiction. Will I be accepted; am I enough to be loved; do I belong? These are normal questions for most people suffering and questioning addiction. I create safety to help explore these questions.

My goal as a therapist is to help you create a fulfilling and pleasurable sex and intimate relationship. What that means or how that looks is unique to each individual and couple. Sometimes, other things come up when we're talking about sex too! We each change as we age and grow in relationship or solo. I also hold space for the grief that we each individually or together experience for what we expected sex would look like or how things used to be. I work to improve communication via attachment work and redefine what works for you/the relationship. I bring laughter, safety and nonjudgement to each of my clients in our work together.

I enjoy growth-oriented work with couples or individuals: setting goals that challenge and move us forward towards a less conflicted life and a greater understanding. I use a variety systemic therapeutic models dedicated toward solutions and the restoration of hopefulness. A few of these are Solution Focused therapy: an empowering look at what's possible for the future and what's worked in the past, Bowen therapy working on a person's strengths as an independent being and an eclectic blend of other styles based on what the client needs, wants and will benefit from.

I integrate evidence based therapies such as EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), couples and family systems therapies, narrative therapy, and attachment therapies, along with other neuroscience based modalities.
It is hard for many of us to reach out to someone for help. It may be embarrassment, or being unsure how therapy would help heal you. Our journey together will be a compassionate, nonjudgemental classroom where you will learn more of your pure self and its ability to heal. It is important that we both see clearly in our work together: "There’s one skill at the center of any healthy family, company, classroom, community, university or nation — the ability to see someone else deeply, to know another person profoundly, to make them feel heard and understood.” David Brooks, New York Times

People often come to therapy struggling with a particular feeling, relationship, or question that they can't seem to escape no matter what they do. Why? Research shows us that our struggles are typically about far more than they appear on the surface. Often the problems of our present are deeply rooted in our pasts and the lessons we learned from our families, cultures, and formative experiences. Yet, many are unaware of the learned assumptions that govern their lives, even when they get in their way.

We use highly experiential processes to help you identify what the real issues are in your relationship and how they developed.
Let’s face it, modern life is stressful. With constant demands on your time and attention, it’s not surprising that you’ve neglected what used to be your north star – your relationship. This may leave you feeling disconnected from your partner & trapped in a cycle of go-nowhere fights. You probably miss the spark that made you excited to see each other at the end of the day. You long for the days when the two of you were in love. I am on a mission to create a better world by helping couples build stronger relationships. People in healthy relationships feel better, get more done & contribute to positive change in the world.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
