I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Lifespan Integration, Cognitive-Behavioral, Mindfulness and Existential techniques and will utilize which one(s)will best assist your need, personality and preferences.
If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, anger or sexual issues that are impacting your daily functioning or sense of well-being, you may need a therapeutic experience to restore your balance and happiness. Together, we can address current or childhood traumas, problems in a relationship or life situation, incidents causing the loss of self-esteem, or the transition through life's phases. My therapeutic style is to provide a safe environment for a relationship of respect and understanding. We will discuss your current concerns and future goals, explore your past history and plan together how you can live "your best life."

My approach is person-centered, focusing on clients’ unique lived experiences, oriented in existential theory, where I accompany clients in identifying strengths, goals, and challenges in overcoming issues through developing self-understanding.
We experience many changes and challenges, such as relocation, growing within relationships, parenthood, or changes in education, career or employment status. Loss comes in many forms, and grief looks different for each individual. Therapy is a way to navigate these challenges, to grow self-awareness and coping skills, and to find meaning in the unexpected, while exploring the external and internal factors that influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

I take an integral/client centered approach to therapy, utilizing elements of psychodynamic psychotherapy, existential/gestalt approaches and cognitive behavior therapy as appropriate.
Do you experience feelings of sadness or hopelessness? Are you having problems in your relationships, at work or with your loved ones, your partner or your children? Perhaps areas of your life no longer seem as satisfying as they once did. I believe that as we navigate the waters of life, we are constantly adjusting to the subtle and profound changes put before us. How we experience those changes, as sadness or hopelessness, loss or opportunity, with sadness or joy determines the course we will follow. How we move forward is unique and personal, yet no one needs to navigate the journey alone.

I work with individuals and couples using an integration of my EMDR, existential and holistic background.
Life is unpredictable with many ups and downs. No matter how much we want life to move in a linear fashion it often goes unplanned causing us to feel off balance. I believe therapy is a safe place to begin your own personal journey and learning to be present in your life. It allows you to rediscover who you are. Therapy is different for every individual and/or couple. I have an EMDR, existential & integrative approach to helping clients create healthy, fulfilling and rewarding lives. I integrate therapeutic styles depending on the best fit for client and situation.

My perspective is informed by humanistic and existential theories and my approach is eclectic, using techniques from Emotion Focused therapy and Internal Family Systems.
I work with adult women who are struggling with a variety of issues including (but not limited to) personal and professional transitions, relationships, identity, anxiety, and depression. I am interested in addressing the many unique challenges that women face while navigating their lives: not feeling seen, the mental burden of feeling overly-responsible for others, burnout, anger/irritability, emotional numbing, withdrawal and isolation, and issues of self-worth and self-esteem. I want to help women develop their sense of themselves and connect with their power.

I also integrates Existential principles as defined by Victor Frankel, who taught that the search for meaning and purpose is a primary, personal motivation.
"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." (Victor Frankel) I am a licensed mental health counselor with his PsyD from Argosy University. My training includes providing co-occurring disorder therapy meaning the simultaneous treatment of addiction and other psychiatric disorder. I treat individuals with and without addictions and specialize in the treatment of adolescents and adults with trauma, depression and anxiety disorders. Currently I am only accepting teletherapy clients.

Typically in session I will use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Existential Therapy to move towards alleviating immediate symptoms in the short term, and changing habits and thought patterns for the long term.
** NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS ** Hi and welcome - I'm glad you're taking this step in finding a therapist - I hope I can help. My goal is to work with you to identify your main areas of concern/stress and develop a realistic strategy to reach your goals. I am a big fan of “doing what works” which, of course, means a different plan for each person. I work hard to adjust my own working style and in employing different strategies to meet your needs - to find the thing that works for you.

I practice psychodynamic mind-body psychotherapy, incorporating Relational Psychoanalytic, Experiential Dynamic, Existential-Phenomenlogical, and Buddhist perspectives.
Welcome. Are you looking for more joy and better relationships? My training has taught me to help people examine and describe the life they have, identifying areas in which they are "stuck," and reconnect to the life-goals that motivated them. Sometimes this stuckness has to do with certain feelings, sometimes it is about past traumas, often it shows up as repeating patterns in significant relationships, and sometimes it manifests as a malaise in which a direction in life seems impossible to find.

I believe that you already contain a deep power for healing inside. Together with kindness and curiosity, we will create a safe and accepting space where all aspects of you are welcome. Our journey will be one of shared exploration and discovery. I am here to guide and support you along the way. Our work will originate in the here and now—what is present in your life currently, learning to meet what shows up with care and compassion. I love counseling those in transition— be that career, gender, or otherwise and draw from feminist, existential, Buddhist, and somatic frameworks and work from a trauma-informed lens.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
