My specialties include ADHD, neurodiversity, OCD, minor depression, immigration/diaspora, cultural conflict and identity, burnout, and narcissistic abuse recovery.
As a social worker and mental health advocate, I seek to empower disenfranchised communities and my fellow human. I offer psychotherapy and counseling services in WA State. Although I practice evidence-based therapy, every individual has idiosyncrasies and unique factors that will impact how they respond to various modalities. Before a specific modality or strategy is implemented, I seek to understand your needs, thoughts, and desires through a comprehensive assessment and evaluation. This approach helps determine whether a therapeutic relationship would be suitable or if another option would be more appropriate.

Each individual faces challenges as they learn to navigate life and find their place in the world. At times, these obstacles may feel like Mt. Everest and impossible to overcome. Issues may arise such as trouble with concentrating, lack of motivation, perfectionism, social issues, academic struggles, anxiety, depression, and sometimes addiction. All of which may be overwhelming to a person. People need a "neutral party," someone they can talk to, in confidence, to discuss and work through issues. Having a therapists offers a safe place to share, feel accepted, and understood.

You tell yourself that if you just do everything perfectly, you’ll feel okay. As long as the house is spotless. And your family is ideal (or at least looks that way on social media.) If you always say yes, constantly keep a smile on your face, and never complain about anything – then everything should be fine. But no matter how hard you try, you can’t shake this feeling of dread. And all of your efforts to appear perfect are taking a toll. To-do lists never end. No one seems to know the real you. You’re terrified that at any moment, there’ll be a crack in your mask and everyone will see you for who you truly are; this cant go on.

Life with ups and down, twists and turns can feel like a rollercoaster. “Who am I? and Why do I think, feel and behave this way?” We often only know ourselves partially, with blind spots that may carry risks. How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
