Psychology works because it is a way to help people understand their problems and correct or change so that they can live more healthy or satisfying lives. Many people come for therapy if they are experiencing problems with depression, anxiety or relationship issues. Some other common problems that I help treat are problems with work injuries, sleep, weight, stress, trauma, and sexual problems. These problems can be greatly helped through therapy. I employ an eclectic approach to therapy, meeting each individual’s needs rather than using one form of treatment.

My area of expertise is assisting people with complex medical challenges such as chronic pain, anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep problems, diabetes, and other medical conditions.
I am an active listener, and my goal is to listen to my clients and help them to deal with their issues. I realize the need to be heard, so I am here to listen so that we can both get along in this journey together to find unique solutions. I typically work with adult clients & however, in some instances I also take on clients who are older adolescents or older adults. Saturday appointments are available. I look forward to meeting you.

I can also help with things that often accompany anxiety, like depression, insomnia, unhelpful ways of coping, and ADHD.
Overwhelmed by all the options on here? Wondering whom you'll feel comfortable opening up to? Who will make therapy feel rewarding, even when it's painful. Who will have the expertise to help? I've scrolled here too. Personally, I value a therapist who is warm and engaging, who can support me and challenge me to grow at the same time. In my endorsements you can see how other therapists describe my style. I also value a therapist with true expertise–someone who really gets how your unhelpful thoughts and feelings work. My expertise is in anxiety. Lived experience made me curious about these disorders. I've studied them ever since.

Healing can feel confusing, frightening, or impossible. It can be hard to know where to start. Sometimes we can feel stuck between two uncomfortable options. Sometimes everything feels difficult, confusing, or exhausting. We might know something has to change, but not know how to start.

I have openings right now! Clients who work well with me value open communication and are ready for feedback, are actively engaged in their healing process, and are curious about how their past experiences impact them. I also enjoy using humor in my approach to quote Allen Klein: “Humor can alter any situation and help us cope at the very instant we are laughing.”

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
