Pursuing optimal intimacy improves your mental and physical health. I am an experienced therapist who is direct, affirming and effective in helping couples and individuals 'do what works' in and out of the bedroom. This requires facing and dealing with what holds you back, shuts you down, turns you off and intimidates you--in order to potentially open you up, draw you closer, and strengthen your bonds of authentic love. In our dynamic therapeutic process, you can also learn how to become irresistibly desirable and pursuable (once again)! The lovers' dance is born anew. I work with individuals and couples. Let's connect.

I can help with many life and relational struggles such as anxieties, recovery from childhood abuse, and addictions such as sexual or drug and alcohol addiction.
All matters that bring us to counseling inevitably result in dissatisfying relationships. I work to address both the problem that brings you to counseling and the inevitable relational strain. We will work together to help you find relief from emotional and relational pain and dissatisfaction, and we will work to give you hope for a more meaningful and satisfying life.

Counseling is a deeply personal journey. I work to empower and guide clients toward their own unique solutions that can bring order and managability to life and to relationships.
Individuals will be challenged to discover their own unique areas of strength upon which to build skill in overcoming problems and issues that contribute to feeling "stuck." Couples will be challenged to identify individual and collective patterns that interfere with relational closeness, safety, and intimacy. Older children and teenagers will be encouraged to learn valuable skills to help them cope with life's struggles in an environment of safety and trust.

My goal is not to provide you with all the answers — instead, let's embark on a relational journey together, inviting us both to explore what we know about ourselves and the world.
Being a human can be a lonely, confusing, and stressful experience. Although our modern world is a wondrous place, it can also feel overwhelming and isolating. And yet, maybe some part of you knows there is joy and connection to be had — so how do you access it? Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade as an organic farmer; without knowing why, I sensed that I needed to do work that was close to the ground — to be near things that felt fundamental and foundational to life. I view therapy in much the same way: as a space to work with what is deep and foundational in you.

My goal as a therapist is to build a relational connection, process experiences of disruption, and unearth the roots of painful feelings.
Current Openings - Wednesdays at 9am and Thursdays at 8am PST. - - The world can be a confusing and painful place, and we all need places of safety where we can make sense of ourselves and the things we're going through. My hope is that therapy can offer a space where you will feel seen, receive support, and gain insight into the things you've already been through and everything you're experiencing today. It can be easy to put our own needs aside when other things feel more urgent, and I want to create a space where you and your needs get to be a consistent priority.

I use a relational therapeutic model with a focus on the mind-body connection.
I am certain that no amount of research or birthing classes can prepare a person for the challenges of parenthood. As a mother myself, I understand some of the difficulties that come during the perinatal time period. Having the support you need can make a positive impact during this unique time. In therapy you can find a nonjudgmental space for processing and support.

I think you are one of those brave, motivated sorts. Yes, you. Brave for refusing to ignore the pain you experience getting through the day. Strong for wanting change enough to work for it. Motivated in the way you're seeking help. I provide therapy for the motivated - because taking action heals! Over the past 30 years, I've offered mental health interventions to people in crisis, the first 20 years in an Emergency Room working as a Psychiatric Social Worker, and now heading into the eleventh year as a trauma and couples therapist. Change is real - I watch it occur every day in my practice.

Therapies that focus on brain change, heal symptoms more rapidly and get to the deepest part of the issue. I work from a positive perspective that is both challenging and supportive simultaneously. Some people come to me to grow in areas of peak performance and others come to break free from the gridlock they experience in their significant relationships. Many people are stuck in a depressive or anxious cycle that doesn't allow them to be authentic in how they engage the world. I have been a therapist for over 20 years and I love it.

Relational Therapists
How does relational therapy work?
Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.
Is relational therapy evidence-based?
Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.
How long are people typically in relational therapy?
Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.
Does relational therapy work?
While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
