We are accepting new clients. My name is Greg Atchison, and I specialize in ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression related issues, symptoms, and diagnoses. As someone with a personal background in all of the above, I understand how frustrating life can get when trying to go through it with such problems. I am passionate about working with clients to utilize their own strengths, even those they don't readily accept or see in themselves, to help them overcome their present issues, and better prepare for and address future problems.

I support folks struggling with ADHD, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, and relationship issues find their way forward.
Do you find yourself lashing out, making poor decisions, losing hope and confidence? Is it affecting your relationships? Maybe it feels like no matter what you do, you just can't get it right. Would you like to figure out what's getting in your way? Together, I can help you find what is at the core of your struggles, so instead of wishing for change and relief you can begin a new path of meaningful change. As we get to know each other, we will build a picture of old patterns that keep you stuck. Then we'll figure out where you want to be instead and build a path with intuitive strategies, self-compassion, and confidence.

I am experienced working with people of all ages with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, PDA, parenting and more.
There is no manual for parenting. You may have a child or teen moving through the world looking through a neurodivergent lens. They may seem more sensitive, reactive or demand avoidant then their peers. Perhaps you are noticing your own sensory system is getting overloaded when your kids are pushing your buttons. Maybe your child has been diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, OCD or generalized anxiety disorder and you are realizing that you are a lot like your child but it never occurred to you that you may be neurodivergent yourself. Perhaps your child is gender expansive or LGBTQI+ and you are working hard to best understand them.

Life can be challenging! One of the most courageous choices one can make is to embark on the journey towards personal exploration and growth. As a therapist, my job is to help you access your inner wisdom, navigate relationships and change, and create a fulfilling, balanced life. I find that my clients are often equipped with strengths and talents that they do not give themselves credit for. I aim to help you recognize and strengthen these gifts in order to fully participate in and enjoy the world around you. I enjoy working with those who are embarking on new life transitions, as well as parents who are seeking guidance on behavior management with their young children, preadolecents and teens. Couples work, as well as parenting and the relationship between caregiver and child have been at the core of my practice for most of my career.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
