It is important to tailor session therapeutic approaches to the needs and goals of each client. To accomplish this, I take a multi-faceted therapeutic approach session approach. This includes such therapies as CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety, Rogerian, and motivational interviewing. I have a special fondness for working with individuals who have one or more issues with traumatic backgrounds, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, and lack of self-confidence. I believe that teaching positive coping skills in combination with focusing on a person's strengths and abilities will help them lead more productive lives.

At times, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss, and many other circumstances can easily make one feel overwhelmed and, perhaps, in need of a mental health tune-up.
I have current availability for new clients after school and during the day. I offer FREE consults that can be scheduled on my website. I am a Christian therapist who delights in helping my clients discover muscles they didn't realize they had. I help my clients find clarity and hope so they can live life more fully. Using a person-centered, strength-based and compassionate approach, I help my clients identify the root cause of their struggles and teach them new and more helpful coping techniques. My clients routinely report improved mood, better emotion regulation, and deeper connections with their spouses, families and friends.

I help HSPs calm anxiety, soothe grief, and compassionately heal trauma from the inside out.
Dear Sensitive Soul, do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, and energetically exhausted in this insensitive world? Do you yearn for meaning? Do you need spacious alone time after socializing? Have you found yourself in a cycle of unhealthy relationships, and want deep true connection? If you're empathic with a heightened sensory system you may be a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP.) Born so, HSPs feel deeply, and are a/effected by the world. We feel and notice every nuance around us and need a skilled guide who understands us with kindness and compassion (like me) because it's so hard to be sensitive in an insensitive world, especially now.

Trauma, in its many forms, creates a barrier to joy. We endure symptoms and work hard to adjust, but sometimes it's hard to manage. Many people develop instinctive coping skills to survive, and yet, these survival skills create residual anxiety and depression. Each can lead to isolation. No one should be alone with these experiences. I hope to share my knowledge to help you manage your trauma. I'm an eclectic counselor, former teacher, and full-time empath trained multiple modalities. My background helping others has created a noticeable enthusiasm to connect and share in my client's story of growth and change.

My counseling style is accepting, respectful, and down to earth. I am direct yet in a compassionate, thoughtful way. One of my key beliefs is that we all have needs in our life such as the needs to experience a sense of belonging and acceptance, value and worth. I can help you become more aware of what needs you and significant others in your life have, how you are currently trying to satisfy those, and explore alternative means to fulfilling your needs if appropriate. This can help with improving mood, enhancing relationships, decreasing anxiety- just to name a few concerns.

I have a general practice where I work with a broad spectrum of adults and adolescents routinely dealing with issues related to anxiety, PTSD, depression and relationship difficulties.
****Not accepting new patients at this time. Will post when availability opens up**** I believe one of the greatest attributes of the therapeutic relationship is the ability to be open and honest with your thoughts, feelings, and relationship issues. Therapy is a place where you don't have to worry about being judged or having your statements negatively impact your world. A place where you can feel heard and understood, and receive objective feedback from someone whose sole purpose is to help you to make your life better.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
