For the past 25 years, I have worked as a licensed psychotherapist with a PhD. I have been helping those who are searching for crystal clear waters, wanting inner peace and seeking integrity. It is within this context that the healthy mind will gravitate light of all kinds. Whereas, the sick mind will stumble in the darkness. I invite you to come and see me. We can do it! If there is a will there is a way. Let’s celebrate our positive and erase the negatives.

Ultimately, addiction is a distraction from life's meaning and purpose. My primary focus is seeing my client connect to their own meaning and purpose--not only in recovery but life generally. Through these re-connections one can forge a prolonged and stable sense of progress that paves the way toward whatever goal is on the horizon. I do not believe I am in the business of ‘fixing’ anyone, instead supporting people as they realize their own potential to overcome whatever challenges are preventing them from living the life they deserve.

Do you feel anxious, depressed, confused, alone or misunderstood? Are you having difficulty communicating within your relationships, going through a big life transition or feeling pain and constriction from past traumas? During these times it is helpful to have someone listen and support you without judgement within a safe place. Everyone has a personal history that makes them unique with both strengths and vulnerabilities. I know the courage and perseverance it takes to face and feel the pain as well as embrace your gifts, strengths and light.

Only accepting new clients for Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. Whether you’re dealing with new stressors or old wounds, therapy can help you feel better. The process of sharing your story in a supportive, non-judgmental setting allows you to untangle it, find the important threads, and weave them together into a stronger, more resilient fabric. This may sound daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. We’ll roll up our sleeves and work together to clarify what’s most important to you, deepen your understanding of what’s getting in your way, and most importantly, take the steps needed to not just go forward, but to grow forward.

Congratulations on taking the first step toward self improvement! I know the thought of seeking counseling and therapy can seem daunting and scary, and I commend your efforts. People seek counseling for many reasons, sometimes feeling "stuck" or "lost" in their lives, and not knowing which way to turn. Sometimes we just don't trust ourselves, or others, and begin thinking, "Is this what my life will always be like?"

As a therapist, I am passionate about connecting with clients and helping them improve themselves. Your quality of life begins with your mental health! Our lives are stressful enough, so I aim to help you navigate the mental hardships you have experienced in your past and those yet to come. Many of us struggle with daily stressors, life-altering events, and negative feelings or emotions, which make it challenging to be the best version of ourselves. If we continue to work on ourselves, we can live our lives to the fullest.

So many people struggle to find happiness and balance in their lives and relationships. I can help you identify and remove the blocks to your happiness, whether they be inside of you (your thoughts, expectations and anxieties) or outside (toxic relationships, cultural barriers, etc.). I can also help you address and face the fears which hold you back, identify relationship patterns which keep you from getting what you want in love, and help you think outside the box to create novel solutions to your struggles.

We live in a complicated and challenging society and then, we have ourselves to deal with. Therapy is a good way to understand yourself on a deeper level so you can grow to your full potential and change the things that need to be changed. By doing so, we not only heal ourselves, but we are then a benefit to others in our life and to the world in general. I think I can help with that no matter where you are in the process.

Do you want a fresh outlook? Are you looking for a new perspective? Do you want change that offers realistic hope? I have been privileged over the past 20 plus years of helping people address change. We all want to avoid addressing personal change. In many ways it is like musical chairs: We cling as long as possible to the perceived "safe" place that we already know, refusing to loosen our grip until we feel sure another safe place awaits. Together we will work to establish attainable goals that are best suited for your life.

I believe that you are intelligent and capable. I also believe that if you knew what to do about what's troubling you, then you would have done it by now. So, there must be something you need to learn to fix it. My style of counseling is interactive and solution-focused. I excel at helping people sort out what's bothering them and what to do to about it. I'll help you develop new skills and resources for living a happier, more satisfying life. I genuinely care about people and want to help reduce human suffering. So I will listen with empathy, compassion and respect while providing the information, support and guidance you need.

Currently accepting waitlist. I work with individuals & individuals of couples & particularly appreciate working with young adults & elder adults. Emphasis is on building self-efficacy, a positive psychology approach supported by CBT - not only navigating the impact of internal and external weaknesses but also building your strengths - what else is going to bail you when times get rough! And yes, it's OK to have weaknesses. No human is without. To say, "I have weakness," is not to say, "I am weak."

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.
