Looking for a more active and experiential approach to therapy? Working with children, adolescents, adults and families I use horses as part of a treatment modality for issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, autism spectrum disorders, oppositional disorders, and adolescent issues. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is highly active and quickly engages even clients who have become disillusioned with more traditional therapeutic approaches. Horses and activites are combined to help clients recognize their typical approach to problems, what may or may not be working, and how to move forward.

Mental Health Counseling from a Christian Perspective. Since 2014, we've seen over 1000 clients, seeking the best care for individuals, families, children, and marriages. New Ground has more 5-Star Google Reviews than any counseling business in Redmond (or any of its surrounding cities). Read testimonials at www.newgroundcounseling.com: "Joshua Loy saved my marriage when it was in shambles. He walked with us when we were at our worst & struggling in so many areas. With wisdom and delicacy he led us through reconciliation, created assignments for us to see one another, and led us back to closeness in our marriage and with God."

I enjoy working with children, their families, and adults in their healing process.
Accepting Medicaid (Molina ONLY) 8/26. Our best contact method is via our website inquiry form. Do you often feel disconnected from yourself or misunderstood by others? Are you a parent worried about your child's difficulty forming connections or feeling a sense of belonging and developing new relationships? Finding someone who truly understands can be challenging. As an autistic therapist, I help individuals and families navigate a world that often views uniqueness as something to be changed, rather than celebrated. I focus on using your unique strengths to work towards a more fulfilling life, helping you embrace and thrive.

I specialize in working with children, teens, and adults who might be struggling to make sense of the complicated world that we live in. Despite our connectivity, it seems that we live in a time in which individuals and families are more isolated than ever before. I truly believe that we all need and desire a village — a network of support and care to help us when needed. It is my aim to be that extra form of support. I am here to help individuals and families navigate the more difficult hurdles and to find ways to work towards creating more peaceful, authentic, and connected lives.

Over time we develop patterns of behavior that may have once supported us through a difficult time, but these ways of being may be hurting our ability to connect with loved ones or form new connections. Through our work together, we will reflect on how your past experiences may influence who you are today and identify interventions to support you in connecting with who you want to become. In addition to working with individuals, I enjoy supporting people better engage in the important relationships in their lives; this may be within a couple, but can also be in a parent-child relationship.

I offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Child, Parent Counseling and Individual Therapy.
You may be dealing with anxiety, depression, racialized trauma or generational trauma that make it harder to function. For too long, the idea of mental wellness was viewed as a luxury only allotted to the few. Someone was considered “strong” if they endured a traumatic or life-changing event, regardless of functionality. We are now beginning to understand that those events can change the way we relate to everything. You may continue to engage in your day to day expectations like taking care of children, going to work, going to school, but you may not be sleeping well, may no longer enjoy things that brought you peace or happiness.

There are tangible & experiential ways in reconnecting our bonds with our children, our partners, & ourselves through the lens of humanistic, psychoanalytic, & existential therapies.
Do you find yourself spending hours going in circles talking or thinking about something with no resolution, & in the end feel unheard and alone? Which then in turn perpetuates worries, the inability to trust your own thoughts, & then feeling like its better to do everything on your own. Without connection we are merely surviving & perpetuating the idea that we have to experience this life on our own. While under the surface we wonder why we feel out of control and lost.

What if you could make your life the way you want it to be? Would you like to overcome loneliness, self-doubt, anxiety, fear of failure, hopelessness, relationship difficulties? Many times our discontent in the present is tethered to traumatic events in our past. If you suffered trauma as a child or as an adult, chances are you have adapted and survived but you may not be currently thriving. The deeper the wounding, the more profound the negative impacts can be in your present life. The miracle of therapy offers you the power to rewrite your past and reprogram your future.

I provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, and more. I work with children 6-12 years old, with a parent/primary care-giver. I am passionate about working with those navigating the mental load of motherhood, IVF/fertility issues, multicultural identity, and internalized oppression. I enjoy working systemically with families, to help gain a better understanding of how their "operating system" may contribute to the presenting issue and ways to shift it. I incorporate body awareness techniques with all my clients to improve the mind body connection.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in Seattle, WA. I specialize in evidence-based assessment and therapy for both children and adolescents. While I've spent much of my specialist practice at the intersection of ADHD and anxiety disorders, my generalist training has also prepared me to support those with sleep problems, depression, and adjustment issues across age groups. My evidence-based and culturally informed practice warmly welcomes individuals from underserved communities, including BIPOC, international students, and immigrants.
