As a therapist, I am passionate about connecting with clients and helping them improve themselves. Your quality of life begins with your mental health! Our lives are stressful enough, so I aim to help you navigate the mental hardships you have experienced in your past and those yet to come. Many of us struggle with daily stressors, life-altering events, and negative feelings or emotions, which make it challenging to be the best version of ourselves. If we continue to work on ourselves, we can live our lives to the fullest.

I believe that therapy is based in a philosophy of respect, trust and building a safe non-judgemental relationship. I strongly believe each person has the wisdom to understand what works for them. I want clients to know they've come to a place of hope and my role as therapist is to listen and guide by providing support and encouragement

It is difficult to deal with strong feelings of anger, guilt sadness, grief, fear, or worry on your own. At the same time, it can be extremely difficult to let others around you know when you need help. You may have even been told that you just need to "tough it out", and "deal with it" all on your own. I'm here to say that you don't have to. Managing difficult emotions is easier said than done when going through stressful situations such as losing a loved one, ending a relationship, or dealing with financial stress. I am here if you are ready to make positive changes in your life, and are tired of doing it alone.

Hey there, I'm Alex! Thank you for your interest in working with me. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor, and I operate my practice, Well Bee Counseling, from my home in Georgia serving clients remotely in Washington and Louisiana. Client's that have worked with me often sought therapy because they were struggling to sleep, consumed with worry, struggling in relationships (personal and professional) and were fed up with trying to manage their struggles on their own. Additionally, they often have painful events from early in life that effect them deeply. They can be new to therapy or experienced.

Have you ever felt that your needs and feelings don’t matter in your relationships—whether they’re professional, romantic, or friendships? If you find yourself often being the “giver,” you might be overly responsible for others' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, leaving your own needs neglected. You might take on extra responsibilities at work. You may attend family gatherings despite feeling emotionally and mentally drained. You might give to friends or partners when you’re unable to nurture yourself. If this sounds familiar, you may be feeling depressed, drained, anxious, or resentful.

I started my career as an addiction counselor and have since witnessed many clients successfully maintain their sobriety for 9-10 years. Recognizing the prevalence of underlying mental health issues among those in recovery, I transitioned to mental health counseling because mental health issues manifested after sobriety. As an addiction counselor, I found myself increasingly providing mental health counseling. I am now equally proficient and certified in both addiction and mental health counseling, and I specialize in working with individuals dealing with anxiety disorders. Depression, relationship issues.ADHD, Bipolar. And trauma.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists

How does cognitive processing therapy work?

A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?

CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?

A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
