I utilize some non-traditional approaches, as needed, which includes home based individual and family therapy, specialized treatment with eating disorders, anxiety, PTSD and depression, through the mind-body-spirit connection utilizing holistic and integrative approaches.
My therapeutic goal is to tailor treatment to each individual's needs, situations and personalities through a collaborative process. I seek the optimal and most beneficial approach to the individual's needs, whether child, adolescent, adult, couples, or families. I have over 30 years experience working in the field with a wide variety of client populations. I have spent many years working with youth and special needs individuals who displayed severe challenging behaviors. This has included developmental disabilities, autism and those with self-harm and severe anger issues. My overall approach is holistic, integrative, and strength and evidence based.

My goal in all my work with all my different clients is to help them better understand themselves, their lives and their struggles. With honesty, compassion, warmth, humor and respect, as well as my own insights and knowledge gained from my work and my life, I help people more fully become who they wish to be. Whether their issues are behavioral, emotional, relational or involving more specific challenges, I use different strategies from different disciplines to assist my clients in reaching their goals.

Choosing a therapist for yourself or loved one can be a difficult task. A true "Master" of the healing arts is one who has spent years learning, practicing, and refining their skills as a healer. Individuals, couples and families first entering into the therapeutic relationship often feel overwhelmed, confused, anxious and vulnerable. They need to feel safe by knowing that they are truly being heard and respected. They also need to trust that their therapist has sufficient experience to patiently guide them thru the process of self discovery on their path to wellness and feeling whole, perhaps for the first time in their life.

Life presents challenges sometimes. Learning how to access our resiliency, explore negative thought patterns, and strengthen new positive beliefs assists us in creating and maintaining a thriving daily life. I recognize that each person is diverse, having a unique family, social, and cultural history, and that healing and growth can be dependent on numerous factors. I use therapy methods that help bridge communication with children, youth and adults. I hold also hold BA in studio art that contributes to the creativity element of my work with individuals.

I really appreciate clients who are willing to look at themselves and are brave enough to ask for help. Asking for help shows a desire to understand themselves on a deeper more spiritual level. I work with people going through transitions in life ages 4-94. It doesn't matter the age, it is the heart behind the age that counts. I work with individuals, family, couples, and those working on addictions issues that are facing crossroads in their life. Therapy gives hope and renewed vision and allows support to those facing the fear of change.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
