Therapy can help break old patterns and habits which can stand in the way of forming new opportunities or relationships. I have been practicing as a counselor in Vermont for fourteen years, working with children, adolescents, and families. I am also trained as a crisis clinician. I have worked closely with families and teens experiencing depression, suicidal ideation, trauma, anxiety, family conflict and school challenges.

I work with children & families. I believe that the relationship between children and families is essential to a child's well-being. When parents have the tools and education they need they are their children's best support and teachers. Parenting is the most challenging task you will undertake and when children encounter stress and difficulties it gets even harder. My goal is to support parents to have the tools they need to understand what their child is experiencing, and what the children may need from the parent and to support the parent and child along the way. I work with children 10 and under with two sub specalties

I am a pre-licensed, rostered professional and I hold a Master’s degree in social work and a license in school counseling, bringing years of experience to assist children, teens, young adults, and families facing diverse challenges - be it trauma, anxiety, educational hurdles, or family conflict.
I believe therapy is about collaboration, working together to discover and explore your strengths and find your unique story. I offer a caring and non-judgmental space where you’ll feel heard as you move toward achieving your personal goals. I’ve been working as a school counselor in Vermont with families in crisis and these past few years have been especially tough due to the pandemic, impacting our youth profoundly. Having witnessed this firsthand within the school system, I was inspired to start my own practice.

Individuals/Groups/Couples. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Life happens, so it helps to have someone who will really listen, without judgement. When we lay down our burdens, we can feel lighter, heal places that were hurt, and find a way back to ourselves. Therapy can be about coming to deeply know and understand ourselves; with help learning skills for managing life, emotions and relationships, claiming self-worth and a sense of competence. I support people with holistic, research based psychotherapy. ACT, IFS, ARC, DBT, Somatics, CBT and Jungian components. Ask me about group therapy.

I offer a welcoming, compassionate, and non-judgmental space to share your story. Sometimes, problems we face — whether they come with a diagnosis or not — may be overwhelming, debilitating, paralyzing, unhealthy, or destructive to ourselves or our relationships. I work collaboratively to help people deconstruct and free themselves from the grip of problems that may be overwhelming and oppressive and move toward preferred ways of living and thriving.

Life’s many challenges can leave us feeling powerless, out of control, and stuck in unhealthy patterns. Our wellbeing is also affected by social and cultural factors beyond our control, such as restrictive gender roles, rigid social norms, and systemic oppression. Therapy can help you gain insight on both the internal patterns and the external pressures affecting your mental health, and it can open you up to different ways of thinking, behaving, and responding to the world.

I'd like to help support you. I often work with people who are entering new life stages: having kids, changing jobs, finishing school, getting married, leaving relationships, or learning to set boundaries. I believe that therapy should feel encouraging, equip you with the skills and confidence you need, and support you in being yourself—whatever that means for you. Maybe you’re feeling worn down by some old struggles and are ready to move on from them. Maybe you’re trying to get used to a whole new set of challenges. Maybe you’re feeling totally lost in the woods. I’d like to help you find your way through.

I approach therapy holistically, influenced by a career in which I found myself continuously expanding my knowledge and skills to better support my clients' health and well-being goals. I started in athletics and fitness before branching into dietetics, noting its importance as well. Still, my knowledge felt incomplete as I observed how people's relationship with food and their bodies was deeply affected by their emotional state of mind, their experiences, their relationships, and their perspective on what it means to be human. Incorporating psychology enabled me to fully integrate the interplay between the mind and body in therapy.

It's often difficult to reach out for help when you most need it, and it can be hard to speak with someone you've never met about personal issues. On the other hand, it can be easier to do with a person who is a trained, neutral professional. I can be objective and understanding in a way that well-meaning friends and family often cannot. My work with couples, individual adults including seniors, or the younger population, begins in a friendly, professional manner whereby we move towards knowing each other better. A rapport between us is essential in accomplishing our work.

I help people learn to manage anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, effects of past trauma, and unwelcome disruptions to health, work or family life.
Sometimes life throws us one too many curveballs, and our usual manner of coping just isn’t enough. Counseling can be very helpful at such times, offering a dedicated place to speak aloud about thoughts and struggles, and to be heard and understood without being judged. I work hard to create a therapeutic environment in which people feel safe enough to explore and process their experiences, and supported enough to try new ways of thinking and being in their lives. I am a firm believer in every individual's capacity to heal and to grow, and it is an honor and a privilege to be a witness, ally and guide along the way.

Because I believe everything is connected (your family stories, life challenges, grandma's heartbreak, and even what you eat), together we can uncover the thoughts, emotions, and long-buried patterns that color your life.
Hi there! It is my personal belief that we are all meant to thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally (that includes you). But we've all found ourselves at one point or another, feeling like life isn't exactly peachy... and trying to sort life out can feel really daunting. That's where I can help. My particular specialties are working with folks who have experienced childhood trauma and/or sexual trauma, people dealing with anxiety, or challenges in their interpersonal relationships.

I specialize in working with adults and emerging adults from diverse racial, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I accept clients who struggle to find competent care due to the overall inadequate support in mental health for individuals who occupy marginalized identity positions. I bring to my practice both deep knowledge about many socio-cultural factors and power dynamics that can profoundly affect a person's lived experiences, as well as deep humility about the limits of my knowledge. I use traditional talk therapy and EMDR -- an integrative therapy that uses a body-based technique called bilateral stimulation.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
