I am a rostered, prelicensed clinical social worker, and I want to put my skills and experience to use for anyone who is grappling with transition, grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, no matter how near or far they are from home. I have years of experience with intercultural communication and adaptation through my studies, therapy work, my time as an English as a Second Language Teacher, and my own personal experiences as a stranger in strange lands. I want to continue serving refugees and immigrants as they build a new life in green Vermont.

Awareness is everything and everywhere. Appreciable benefits in therapy come from cultivating a grounded sense of self, exploring and affirming our values, honoring our emotions, and appreciating our own unique way of adapting to the world. Deeper self-awareness and coherence of being are achievable through simple breath exercises, thoughtful conversation, and even silence. As a member of the Buddhist lay clergy, I can see clients via Zoom nationally. Reach out for a free intake consult.

For the past 20 years, I have worked with children, teenagers and adults, individually or in groups, of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.
All people have a drive to learn about themselves, and when ill, to understand the personal meanings of their illness. I believe that all people, when given support, help, and knowledge of the mind, can heal. And I believe that most people can understand, with help, how unconscious conflicts cause illness, and that this understanding, and only this understanding, can sustain well-being.

You are 100% accepted and celebrated as is. However, if you have goals to work on toward wellness, I can be your partner in that process. I have been helping people in the therapeutic process since 1999. I would be honored to work with you as you experience personal growth. I draw upon various modalities to assist teenagers and adults including: CBT, ACT, Solutions Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I practice with unconditional positive regard and encourage you to practice self-compassion while gently working toward your goals.

Consider we create belief systems around experience... past, present or future. At best, beliefs are flexible, forgiving, and optimistic, and we feel mostly in sync with humanity. Sometimes, perhaps due to old patterns of functional behavior, traumatic memories/events, or just familiarity, beliefs and attachments may interfere with growth and healing, and become the root of suffering. If this is true for you, together we'll uncover paths to more adaptive, compassionate self-narratives, while learning ways to hold experience to increase your life's meaning.

The goal of my practice is to reduce suffering, expand personal freedom, and create a stable and joyous life for my patients. And because the problems people face in life are as unique as people themselves, I approach therapy in a highly personalized manner. I have experience working on a wide range of problems from adjustment to life stress and transforming pervasive negativity to managing and transforming complex mental and emotional pain.

Our hearts long for authentic connection to ourselves and others - and the sense of aliveness that results from being truly ourselves as we relate. Sometimes, however, reactive patterns arise and displace our competent adult functioning with unregulated emotional states such as anxiety, anger, insecurity, or depression. Often there is no context or overt memory associated with such experiences, which are thought to have their roots in insufficient neural organization. Our neural organization, as it turns out, can adapt and change, giving us access to more and more emotional freedom and contentment.

Are you experiencing chronic financial stress but cannot figure out why because on paper, things look like they "should" work out just fine? Financial therapy is really not about the numbers. Rather, it's about how to think, feel, communicate, and behave differently with money to improve overall well-being through evidence-based practices and interventions. If you find yourself in repetitive self-sabotaging behaviors with money, it's possible that your unconscious beliefs may be contributing to that pattern.

Suffering is often a call from the soul, a call for change. It takes courage to answer that call, and sometimes someone to walk along beside you as you journey through the dark and unknown spaces. Our strengths often reside in these spaces, in the parts of ourselves that we’ve rejected and stuffed away. I offer a collaborative and safe environment that honors the wide spectrum of humanness and the intrinsic power and worth of each individual. By listening deeply to the messages of our physical experience, as well as our thought patterns, emotions and spiritual perceptions, greater well-being and health are possible.

You've taken a big step by looking for someone to talk with. Perhaps you're ready to change the cycle of difficult emotions and unhealthy patterns of behavior. I would like to help you challenge what keeps you stuck and support you in making positive changes towards your goal. Life stressors lead to patterns of negative thinking made worse by negative emotions that keep us from moving forward or living a more fulfilling life. Past traumas can alter your coping and block your happiness. Don't go it alone. I am ready to be at your side and do the hard work you know needs to be done.

Living with addiction and cooccurring disorders can be very disruptive. Addiction can lead to making poor choices resulting in relationship difficulties, legal issues and health concerns. Most people simply want the chaos to stop and to find stability in their lives. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance and work with each individual to develop an unique approach to develop the stability that has been illusive. I have a person centered approach and will employ a combination of methods that best match your needs.

My work is informed by a belief that human beings have a fundamental desire to live in ways that feel authentic and meaningful. Relational challenges, illnesses, traumatic experiences, addictive patterns, and oppression can block us from accessing the inner strength and resilience that enable us to move towards fulfilling lives. Together, we will work to identify areas of struggle and to create more flexible ways of relating to your experience, thereby enabling you to make new choices that are more closely aligned with your inner hopes and personal goals.

As a fellow queer nuerodivergent geek, it can be challenging to find mental health professionals who understand the importance of fandoms, videogames, cosplay, and other geeky interests in the therapeutic space. Sometimes it feels like speaking another language. However, here the geeky is celebrated for the strength it has brought and looks at how to transfer those strengths to other areas such as working with anxiety, exploring one's gender identity, or learning to set healthy boundaries with others. I view our time as a place to explore parts we don't often give space to in our regular day.
